****The 2018 NFL Draft Thread**** (No Spoilers)

Let's ****ing do this.

Last year was a one-of-a-kind, so let's hope the luck carries over to this year, with Brett Veach at the helm for the first time.

Rules:
1. No spoiled picks in this thread, all weekend. This means that as tweets are leaking picks a few minutes before the selection is announced live, you don't post it in this thread (ex: embedded tweets), reference it in this thread (ex: Joe Slapdick says it's McCaffrey to Tampa) or hint at it (ex: "it's a RB!").

Don't be a dick.

Otherwise, have fun, talk shit, freak out and lose your goddamned minds. It's Draft Weekend. The hot takes in these threads are so funny.

I'll also be starting threads for each of our picks as they are made, with videos and notable stats/takes in the OP. Pure knee jerk gold to reference in the future.

*Note: For 2017 hilariousness, view that thread here.

I would amend that to say stop BIG PLAYS in the running game.

Teams like the Rams and Jags didn't care if you ran as long as you only got 2-5 yards. They concentrated on the pass and turnovers...

We looked at a lot of TE’s this Spring. Wondering if maybe they take one here?

I like Chris Herndon a lot. Staylor got the scoop on that kid.

Fans are too quick to judge in the offseason

Apparently Mahomes is Aaron Rodgers circa 2011, while Speaks, Nnadi, and O'Daniel are a bunch of UDFA scrubs

Fans are too impatient to wait till they put the pads on and prove their worth

Fans are closed minded to Kiper, McShay, and Mayock rankings and refuse to trust any front office research which includes many behind the scenes interviews, workouts, and team short and long term plans.

While many teams front offices have a proven track record of drafting total busts year after year, the draft gurus like Kiper and Mayock are also WRONG more than they are right.

It's a guessing game, just like predicting the weather.

Sit back, relax, and let the players try and prove themselves before getting all pissed off.

Wide receiver was the strength of the draft and a big need, yet we passed on wide receivers the entire draft. Seems like we took one late. I just don't see why a teams draft strategy would do that. But I guess that's why Veach and Dorsey are GM's and I'm just complaining on an internet message board.
This quote was taken directly from Veach's press conference:

So that tells you that he wanted beef up front that can push people around. He clearly wanted to change the mentality and the emphasis of our D. This is clearly what he wants so we might as well roll with giving the GM a chance over fighting him.

I was a big Dorsey fan and after two drafts I wasn't.
I wasn't a big Veach fan but after the moves he's made so far he's growing on me. He's clearly not a "yes man" and he clearly has a vision much different than Dorsey.

I don't know if he'll be good or not but at least give him two off-seasons before deciding...

It is a little odd when every guy they've drafted is viewed as a reach by multiple rankings. You have to give them credit for addressing clear holes on the team, but I think it's fair to question if they were reaching to address those problems.

Herndon is so underrated due to the injury.

He’d be a great pick.

Good point. And like I said, there is a reason he's a GM and I'm not. It doesn't make sense to me. But then again, I don't have the information available to me that Veach has available to him. These moves could turn our D into a top 10 unit next year for all I know. I don't expect that to happen, but what do I know really?

Pissed that Josh Jackson was picked before KC

Was even more pissed that Chiefs passed on Christian Kirk.

Nnadi was considered the 2nd/3rd best NT prospect in the draft by most scouts. His big downside was he was 2 inches shorter than ideal height for a NT.

What the **** does that even mean? He's not throwing passes over the line, he's not bringing down a contested ball, he's rushing the passer and eating blockers.

If you watched the draft on ESPN they told you the NFL missed out because no one drafted a guy WITH ONE ****ING HAND.

THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

Our NT is 2 inches shorter than preferred but a guy with ONE HAND is pimped as a must have on day 2.
