10 wins and a conference championship isn’t mediocrity, it’s a success but in a relative sense. In college football, you can end the season with a win even if you aren’t #1. That gives fans hope, even if they know their team will realistically be as good as Alabama or Ohio State. College football can be fun even when your team isn’t the best. The NCAA isn’t perfect but it certainly doesn’t suck. It’s just different than the NFL, which is a good thing. The NFL is pretty boring anymore.
