I do trust the coaches. It won't make me think it's a good idea but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. As opposed to those that called them idiots when rumors emerged that they might be fielding offers for him.

I never once stated that his injuries weren't a concern. Now you're making up an argument. I'e said repeatedly that the tag is what's best to help determine if he can consistently stay healthy. He's been on-again-off-again.

Demarcus Lawrence would be another good example for you. Before his great season in 2017-2018 he hadn't done that much. But once he has broken out, he is is/will be good for years.

The only concern with Ford are the injuries not so much just having one great season. Expect him to maintain that level of play if not injured.

For me, I'm asking Trey Flowers to show up, play smart, disciplined football, for a cap hit that is far less than Dee Ford's in 2019. Sacks aren't the only thing that's important.

Because Ford produced more. Surely, some sort of production is important to you.

I use Flowers because he seems to be the best answer to how you fill the void left by Houston/Ford.

Clearly, if Flowers is your best answer then you're not filling that void. And if you're not filling that void then you got worse.

Like when the Chiefs traded Peters and threw the kitchen sink at that void only to be WORSE.

Yes. You know how Veach decided to apply the 5th year option on Ford? He mentioned that he made his decision based on that stretch of games when Ford was playing great and getting sacks before getting injured. He was a genius.

Did that 5th year option use up $16M of the cap and/or prevent them from signing other free agents?

I've said before, I wouldn't be opposed to signing Ford. It's not ideal but it's better than tagging him and keeping him. You're basically hinging your 2019 defensive performance on a coin flip.
