Yes, exactly.

Learning a new spot is tough. Looking like you don't belong physically is a little different animal.

Hopefully he develops, but depending on that big of a jump in an all in type season is pretty unideal.

I think that's a reasonable expectation.

It also means we're overpaying for the position out of fear...

There will be cap enough for roughly 4 and 4, offense and defense, at any given time. And to be honest, adding a 4th on either side of the ball is pushing it.

The way I see it, we're getting rid of 2 of those 4, retaining Jones who is one of our defensive elites, and preparing to replace those 2 with two different players who will be a better fit for what we are trying to accomplish.

Oh i wouldn't go that far. He held the PoA well. He had some decent get up and go at the snap. At the very least he should be a good run defender.

He looked worlds different from Preseason to the end of the season. He showed a lot, and most importantly showed that he can get better.

I think he'll be fine.
