I think crossing the goal line causes some sort of mental disorder. Back in the 1970s and '80s when the running backs were the big scorers, you had a bunch of ego cases at that position. People like Eric Dickerson and John Riggins and Marcus Allen had enormous egos, and the receivers were by and large pretty normal. Now we've got tons of overly dramatic wide receivers and the running backs are pretty normal.

Sanders just handed the ball to the refs. It is pretty ice cold to treat scoring a touchdown like a normal everyday thing though.

Pretty much everything about Barry Sanders is the best thing ever in the nfl. The only thing about him that wasn't perfect was his non-red uniform.

There is a good documentary on Amazon Prime about Barry Sanders. I think the humble aspects of Barry, not celebrating his TDs, not caring about records, and his early retirement can all be attributed to his abusive relationship with his father. The abuse was more mental than physical. His father was a narcissist. He claimed he was a better football player than Barry. And that no matter what Barry did, he would never be better than Jim Brown. At his HOF induction, Barry's dad said he was the third best running back of all time: 1. Jim Brown, 2. father Sanders, and 3) Barry Sanders. I don't really celebrate Barry Sanders humbleness after watching that documentary.

John Riggins just handed the ball to the refs also.

There is true class watching old videos of Barry Sanders or John Riggins score, and just flip or hand the ball back to the referee.

No position in football has your career stats and earnings so completely dependent on so many other people quite like the WR. Between the obvious of the QB they also depend a lot on the o-line, play caller, and general game script. Their income really is heavily impacted by so much that they probably feel a need to demand more and better opportunities.

I’m as big of an advocate of wanting a Wr as much as anybody. But didn’t want him then, dont want him now. He’d be a huge upgrade for us but we don’t need that kind of act here. Dude is the offense version of young Marcus peters.

Yeesh. What a chode. Hindsight probably should've just left that pocket of WRs alone and went elsewhere.

I know we all preferred him to Moore, but a few of us also flagged all this as possible to blow-up. I thought he MIGHT have a worse career than Moore as a result. Nope, people give talent 2nd chances, but it still might be closer than people expect

Yea I mean there is a large difference in someone that is 22 not being mature and someone that is 30 openly telling the press personal success is important to him.
