George Pickens posting "Free Me" on IG story

Also supposedly deleted all Steelers content. Unfollowed teammates, coach, and the Steelers page.

If nobody caught it last night, everybody was very happy for Diontae Johnson finally scoring a TD (hasn't since Dec of 2021), and they showed him on the sidelines sulking like a little bitch.

This dude is obviously VERY talented, but he's a ****ing headcase.

We were spread too thin. So you have to spend multiple high picks on LB'ers, and DE, and the secondary and meanwhile you've got a WR room in need of fresh talent, and no OT's and...

Some of those guys were worth the money, some weren't-and THAT is how free agency works. This idea that past production with another team guarantees the same level or greater of future production is fantasy.

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't-and sometimes it does for a while, and then by the end, you're overpaying.

So just like the draft, it's a risk/reward roll of the dice.

In '22, we took a HUGE chance on 5 rookie DB's. By the end of the season (and this year) it's a strength of the team. That's how it CAN go.

In '23, we took a HUGE chance on three young WR's, and only one has panned out. That's also how it CAN go.

In both cases, they were risks we had to take. In hindsight, you can pick around and choose slightly different paths, but those are just as big of a risk.

We could be losing games 42-35. A lot of people would prefer that.

No, they didn't have to assume players that had never done anything would be good. That's not how SB contending teams roll. It's fine to develop, it's ideal but you need a few guys already on the team that can produce.

That's why this offense suffered so much. Veach let their #1WR walk and assumed every prospect was going to be good despite the fact that he had never found a legit #1, #2 or #3 WR in 5 previous drafts.

It is also false that adding one or two good vet WR's would make the defense surrender 42 points a game. That's just stupid.

If they had added a good vet WR and drafted another WR prospect that could play besides Rice this team would be the #1 seed and SB favorite instead of just another good team hoping to catch fire late.

When you pay your QB you can't afford to go stock up every position. You have to rely on drafting and deals to get the job done.

It worked masterfully last year. It failed miserably with Skyy but we also hit big with Rice.

They obviously never thought Skyy would flop this badly. They most likely thought he would be a Hardman at worst to where he was at least useful.

Let's see what Richie James has because all he needs to be is a solid WR for like 2, maybe 3 catches a game. They have a great chance at this point because the knocked the Rice pick out of the park. Rice, Kelce and Pacheco should be Mahomes trio of go to guys. Just need 2 or 3 complimentary players to not **** it up like Toney has.

He did NOTHING last year and has zero NFL+ WR traits. I believe you that they thought he would be good but why is the more important question.

They took the money away from the offense and gave it to the defense despite the fact that the defense was already loaded with young, cheap talent that had helped win a SB the year before.

That was a choice.

It also was a choice not to convert some of Mahomes roster bonus so they had flexibility at the trade deadline.

They left themselves no room for error.

Whoever gives Pickens the bag will be looking stupid after a year. Miami gave up 5 picks and gave Hill the bag just to get bounced out and it will happen again this year. WRs are not worth 30 mil. Most aren't worth half that.

Veach doesn't whiff in the draft often but when he does...

It involves misjudging a WR.

Higgens > CEH
Metcalf > Hardmam
Pickens > Skyy

Rice is saving him rn.

I think it's because our scouts don't prioritize route-running. They assume they can coach them up but guys that don't do it well in college like Reagor or Hardman don't suddenly learn in the NFL how to.

I think getting the best non-QB in football and him being the biggest reason the team is a 2 seed was well worth the trade and money.

So Pickens finally has a good game and now should have been the pick despite all his other issues?

Is it though? Miami has yet to prove anything against good teams and unfortunately they don’t get bottom feeders in the playoffs.

Would you rather be the 2 seed in the playoffs or the no seed out of the playoffs?

I'd take Pickens and all his issues over Skyy and his issues. Pickens issues come with 1000 yards and multiple touchdowns. Skyys issues come with...
