I can't say much about his body or family, but I think that a player who retires early has to pay back a prorated share of the signing bonus. I remember there was a big fuss about whether Barry Sanders would have to repay his, and he ended up having to pay back a pretty good chunk of it. Of course, I could be wrong. But it doesn't seem to me to be very good business sense to sign a player to a longterm contract and give him a huge SB if he could just retire the next year and keep it all. Then again, we ARE talking about Carl Peterson. ![]()
