You should just tell them, "Well, you can only sell your body for good money while you're young. I intend to retire in 3 or 4 yrs. That 20 yr retirement plan kicks though, so I need to finish."

I’m 38, my first and only son (that I know of at least ) is gonna turn 1 the 24th of August.
Mrs. Radar is 35, BTW.

The thing you've got to remember is to not let regret or disappointment about the past (or the present) have a negative impact on the future. It's good to learn from your past, but not to dwell on it.

I have enough worries to deal with today. I try not to drag them from the past or borrow them from the future. Sometimes they sneak up on me though. But, then again everyone has "those" days, so I shrug it off.
