Casey Wiegmann deserves the Pro Bowl

Really...he does. This guy is such an unsung hero in Chiefsland and across the league it's not even funny.

Check this out. On LJ's second touchdown run, Wiegmann and Welbourn pull to the right. Denver's D.J. Williams comes SCREAMING through the backside hole and is headed right for Larry Johnson. This play is going to be killed in the backfield...and then Wiegmann stops pulling and stones D.J. Williams in midstride.

LJ manages to follow the block of Welbourn (who cuts Al Wilson ) and score, but Casey Wiegmann prevented DISASTER.

Here's the replay:

And here are some stills:

And one more angle:

Also as noted in the screenshots, Michael Myers is a holding bitch. CHEATING DONKS!

Trying to hold Brian up from getting to the 2nd level. He couldn't do it legitimately so he used illegal, cheating tactics.

I'd also like to point out that Tony G was WIDE OPEN on a post pattern on Kennison's 27-yard grab.

I honestly don't know why Green threw this ball to Kennison. Lynch had a better shot at jumping Kennison's route for an INT. Gonzalez could have had 40 yards on this play.

Last week on Kennison's 42-yard grab he was also wide open on a post pattern...he complained to Green after the play was over.

Bitching...

More bitching...

It's not uncommon to have multiple players open on a passing play. There's only one football and only so much time to look around and decide to throw to. A play is drawn up with a first option and progressions after that. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. If the first option is open, which it was on that play, the quarterback ain't gonna say "well ok let me see if option 3 is even more open".

The long pass to Dante Hall in the first quarter is actually a play that's missed more often then not since he was the 3rd or 4th option on that play and the only reason Trent looked over there was because his initial reads on the left side of the field were covered.

All he has to do is catch the ball.

Trent Green catching the ball in the flats. Man you know how many defenders would LOVE to get to take that shot at the QB? How many times have we seen a guy catch a ball out there and get absolutely drilled? I don't think it's a good idea.

The idea is for Trent to be WIDE OPEN.

there aren't too many teams that attempt something like that, it would be set up by running this play a couple of times prior to the half-back pass. It would be a total shock and he should be able to walk into the end zone totally untouched. If you look at the end of the still photos, there was no one on the other side of the hash marks....

Besides, you could always have a wr on the other side blocking or ready to block.

Roaf was a slacker on the play, give him someone to block...

Wiegmann has done a great job all year (aside from one bullrush in the first game, IIRC). He did a good job on "the dive" as well, IIRC. He deserves a trip to the PB.

Trent Green will not accept your insolence, and you've been put on The List. Hopefully he will accept your pleas when the upcoming Lord Green Doubter Cleansing of January 2005 commences.

Trent has had nightmares thinking about the possibilities of a pass to him, not because he's afraid of what will be done to him, but he's scared that he'll be wide open, unable to fracture an oncoming linebackers C2 vertebrae.

I think Casey could be a good mentor for a younger center to come in. This guy knew how to open up holes which is reinforced by watching him play over the years. Bring back the toss sweep!
