Every time this gets posted, people mention that it's nothing but an advertising ploy. I wanted to see for myself, so I investigated a bit. And they're right. Voting does NOTHING to increase the number of cans being donated. It just chooses what team gets to pick where the cans go. Not to mention that the donation itself is pretty pitiful considering Campbell's size.

Winner: Average weight of 250 pounds x 53 players = 13,250 cans

Most improved: 2,006 cans

I'm pretty sure our middle school raised more than that this year.
