I don't know, I agree with you, but KCJohnny didn't seem to be the atagonist here.

I wasn't the one who started proselytizing about the merits of war and denigrating people like Halfcan just because he didn't want his kids to be cannon fodder.

I'm not laying this on anyone in particular and I'm sure as hell not taking sides.

Do you even have a concept of what cannon fodder is? The Russian's lost approx. 10,700,000 soldiers during WWII and in 5 months at Verdun during WWI 250,000 died. Or how about the 37,594 people who died in traffic accidents in 2005. Or the 18,535 who died from accidental falls in 2004. You can question whether we should be over in Iraq or the way we're going about the fighting but the idea that the US military is "cannon fodder" is horseshit. If nothing else the casualty numbers make this a remarkably "clean" war. While I'm sure that doesn't easy the suffering of those who have lost someone in combat there is an awful lot of extremist alarm-ism being thrown around here mostly for political purposes. Hell, take the death toll from Somalia and multiply it over a full year and you'd have almost 7000 dead.

Rule #1. Johnny is always the antagonist.

Johnny is a soldier, which is great and respectable. What isn't respectable, though, is how he uses his service as a wedge against the civilians he's sworn himself to protect. Johnny tosses around words like bravery and sacrifice like you and I use the word "the," and always attached to other words like "cowards" and "pansies" to remind everyone else who doesn't agree with his political ideology just how great he is. The worst mistake a person can make with Johnny is to disagree with him, for if you disagree with him, you are making an affront to all of our brave men and women fighting abroad who could beat you wimps up without breaking a sweat. Why do you hate America?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep I have a short fuse THIS week. Funeral on Monday, then had to work Monday night-SUCKED! This whole week has sucked. I especially love threads where people try to tell us what AMERICA is all about.
