My bad. It just flowed to well with the tenor of this thread. Didn't realize that there were so firmly set camps of 'Dude, where's your car'-philes with such disdain for people who are, not ENTERTAINED, but are CAPABLE OF BEING ENGAGED, by information on and portrayals of the darker sides of the human condition.
I don't know if this is going to be an engaging movie or not. But I'm not gonna say it's incapable of having something worth saying, based on a third-hand account of a small portion of the movie, no matter how lurid that account may be.
The most succinct way I can put it is, when done properly, portrayals of man's insanity can often help me more deeply appreciate man's sanity.

EDIT: I KNEW that there was an example that I forgetting. Lilya-4-Ever is a well made, utterly depressing movie, that in the end makes you appreciate life all the more.
