Priest Holmes and the NFI list

POSTED 10:41 a.m. EDT, September 2, 2007

CHIEFS HAD NO CHOICE IN PUTTING PRIEST ON NFI

A league source explains to us that the Kansas City Chiefs were required by rule to put running back Priest Holmes on the non-football injury list. Even though he is still recovering from an actual football injury, the fact that the injury wasn't suffered in 2007 or in 2006 makes it, by definition, a non-football injury.

The source says that Holmes' status is "the same thing" as if he were on the Physically Unable to Perform list. If so, this means that Holmes must miss at least the first six weeks of the season.

Though teams are not required to pay players who are on the NFI list, the source says that Holmes will receive his weekly game checks.

So since he's not on the PUP list, does this mean he can participate in team drills and practice?

Maybe they ruled that his injury was really caused by Merriman's steroid supplier in Tiajuana.

I've watched that play a few times recently, and you can see how hard SM hit him becuase SM's head recoils form the helmet to helmet hit.

Both Green and Holmes taken out on illegal hits. Still pisses me off. I swear, sometimes I'm convinced that the NFL is still screwing Lamar over for the AFL.

Notice the other night on HK's, Lamar was shown calling the Chiefs "Mid -America's Team"..and then viola!...the Cowboys become "America's Team"

The media is only telling the story, they're not creating it. I personally think it's wrong for him to show up at TC saying he's going to try to come back when he really has no intentions of doing so. It's obvious at this point that it's all about money. I don't understand why the financial aspects of this can't be worked out without jerking around with the fan's emotions.

There are plenty of players the media don't talk to...they are creating it.

I don't feel jerked around, if he comes back.. awesome, if he can't, thanks for trying...

I can't believe that one the greatest to wear a Chiefs uni gets so much disrespect...that guy brought more excitement to Arrowhead than I've ever experienced...yet he's thrown under the bus, like his worth never really mattered.
