Why do the Cubs need a farm system? CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

We are set at LF, RF, 3rd, SS, 2nd, 1st, C and have a damn good pitching staff...

Soriano is 32, Fukudome is in his thirties, as are Ramirez, Lee, DeRosa, Theriot is 29.

Your team is aging in dog years and you're set??

Let's not forget that Harden is made of glass, Lilly is 32, Dempster is 31 and has never done this before, and Marquis is trash.

You better savor this year because you guys are going to need a massive rebuild and soon.

Actually, this is precisely when people begin their decline years.

Someone please let Lance Berkman, Pat Burrell, Milton Bradley, Chase Utley, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Bay, Chipper Jones, and J.D. Drew know that they're supposed to start sucking any time now.

JD Drew does suck.

A-Rod is having a down year, Jones can't stay off the DL, Berkman has slowed way down in the last two months and probably won't match his power numbers from last year despite a better lineup.

Utley, Bradley, and Burrell are all having career years. Funny how that tends to happen right before you decline.

C'mon, Peanut.

Jones was hitting .400 for most of the season...ARod got hurt for the first time in his career...Berkman is having another typical Berkman year...if you think players start declining at 32 you are insane.

Exactly...

30-35 is prime years...you figure out a routine, you figure out pitching, etc...

Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Fukodome, Theriot...they aren't going anywhere for the next 5-8 years.

And the Cubs can buy talent just like anyone else.

A farm system is nice, but have fun with all of those young guys and being in 3rd place for the next half decade.

maybe for the typical Reed Johnson type player...

but the Cubs have SUPERSTARS...

Derrek Lee, superstar.
Aramis Ramirez, superstar.
Alfonso Soriano, superstar.

These guys will be producing into their late thirties.

And their pitching is rock solid...

AND

unlock the Cardinals...

They are always buyers in the offseason.

You are insane if you prefer the state of your organization over the state of the Cubs organization...

They are STACKED.

Funny, how that article shows the top 100 homerun hitters of the last decade, and shows when they hit their peak # of HR's as well as their best AVG. and OPS years, and 87% of them came before 33.

Wouldn't those people be your superstars?

32 is young in baseball...if they were all 37 then I'd be worried...

So the Cubs have 5-8 years before they need to worry about having a "rich" farm system...

Oh my, what are they going to do?!
