I always thought it was because of his conservative philosophy and lack of QB development skills. Marty stealing Eli's women could be the real reason. :-)

Ah. That's logical. It's true that Marty isn't the first name that comes to mind when you say, "quarterback development".

Actually, I never really thought about it, to tell you the truth, Mr. Rooster. I just figured that Archie wanted Eli to go to a market where he could get lots of national press attention. Or, that he preferred an NFC team due to the fact that Countryfied Cretin Cheater Number One is in the AFC. You know, so they wouldn't knock each other out of the playoffs until the very end. Your reason makes more sense, though.
