Am I being a prude or have the rules of dating changed DRASTICALLY?
I have a 40 something girlfriend who is still married but has been separated for almost two years. There has been no movement towards an actual divorce. She has moved in with her boyfriend of three months. She has a tweenage daughter.

I am shocked, mortified, and worried beyond belief about her daughter. The woman is an adult and can do what she wants but I worry about the impact on her little girl.

My question is what type of guy does this? And am I being too harsh in my reaction to her decision????

What type of GUY? Why are you directing your incredulity at the guy? The guy isn't the one with a child. The guy isn't the one who has already had a failed marriage but hasn't pursued a divorce in two years. They guy should be the least of your worries. It's your self-centered girlfriend who should be the focus of your scrutiny, not the guy.

The length of time doesn't bother me so much. Some couples just click. I'd be much more concerned about moving in with someone while still married and before re-marrying. Also serial serious relationships. These are the really bad examples for the daughter. I should also mention that I am definitely in the prude category when in comes to relationships. But I wouldn't share my opinion with her -- its her life and her responsibility not to screw up her daughter.

I've let her know how I feel. She's free to do what she wants for herself but that freedom ends where her daughter begins.

I don't know the guy. My first inclination would be that he must not be a very classy guy to totally disregard the interests of the child just to be laying next to my friend every night.

She's using terrible judgment. It's probably a bad decision on his part too, but it doesn't make him a bad person because he has no obligation to the kid. She's the bad person because she's placing her own desire for money, sex, validation, companionship, etc. ahead of the most important thing; the need of her daughter.

So it's normal and most men would move in with a married woman and her kid after three months and I have no reason to worry?
