Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

Well, if we did only give up a 2nd rounder for Cassel and Vrabel, I gues I am not disappointed. This could be alright. I wanted to draft Stafford or Sanchez, but neither of those guys have done it in the NFL. Cassel has. I hope he isn't just a one year wonder. I will defer to Pioli's judgement on that. At least now we have the starting QB position settled and we can go about fixing other things like defense.

Matt Ryan was last year's Drew Brees. A good/great college QB who put up numbers over a full career, but was marked down on draft boards for whatever reason.

Brees took hits for his size. Ryan didn't have that problem - he has the prototypical build (6'4", 220#), but coming out of Boston College, draft "experts" thought he did not face good enough competition.

Fact of the matter is both were overlooked QBs who proved they can play at a high level over several seasons.

Sanchez should have stayed in college!

I think this deal states that Pioli and Haley clearly weren't sold on the QBs in this draft, at least Sanchez. Now we will overpay for a LB or RT most likely because we didn't want to draft Sanchez IMO.

No chance. We're not going to pay a QB $14M to sit on the bench, and Pioli's not going to risk his reputation by having his signature acquisition on the bench behind Tyler Thigpen...

There is no competition. The Chiefs didn't trade for a guy to create "competition".

I dont think the job will get handed to Cassell if Tyler outperforms him at camp. If its close, probably but if Thigpen clearly outperforms Cassell Thigpen will be our starter. I dont see that happenening though, Thigpen blows.
