Well hey, Rudith. Just let that linebacker waltz on thru to the backfield.

Well hey, Cox, just led that linebacker waltz on thru to the backfield.

Well hey, Newdookie, just let that linebacker waltz on thru to the backfield.

Back to defense, where Jarrad Page takes a play from the Bernard Pollard playbook.

We take a brief moment to applaud LJ's blocking here on GIF'D UP. LJ's amazing block allowed the completion of a six-yard pass on third and 10.

Note how slow New Du Kiwi is off the ball. I think he must have missed the snap count ... at least I hope that's what that was.

He had a long way to go for that one. The tackle blocked into the LDT on the play, Goff was pulling right on the play and the tackle spot was where the defensive player came through. The defender/linebacker broke to his left immediately, despite Cassel's turn in the opposite direction. From the looks of it, he either keyed on the RB and got the correct read immediately or, less likely from what I'm seeing, his assignment called for him to slash left at the snap. I can't determine this for certain, especially because LJ is out of the screen at the snap.

I don't know that Niswanger deserves too much derision on this one.

It doesn't look like that to me at all. It looks like the MLB was his guy and he got his ass whooped. He never even looks left. He doesn't even flinch to the left. The MLB beats him to the gap so bad it's not even funny.

The backer is definitely keying on the RB. At least it looks that way to me.

By the time Nice Wanger gets to his man, he's already by him. Again, we're just much slower off the ball than the Eagles.

On the other hand, one would think that, because they're running right, you might want to pull Waters instead of Goff.

He didn't make the play because he's a slow, un-athletic piece of undrafted garbage.

FAIL

The linebacker starts off to Niswanger's right even before the play begins, as the ball is being snapped from the hashmark and the LB has both feet to the left of the hashmark from his perspective. He keys off the RB (I believe) and is off to his left immediately. Niswanger simply can't make up that difference because the LB was so quick with his read.

Niswanger has to be among the bottom 25 percent of talent where centers are concerned in the league. A quicker guy could have made that play, IMO.

Actually, on that first play, is that on Rudi? It looked like that was more on Goff who was running to block nobody. It looked to me like the d-lineman stunted and shot a gap where Rudi couldn't get to him.

Goff is pulling. You know, lead blocker.

Really? I don't see that at all. If you watch the play, there is pretty much nothing Niswanger can do. The LB takes a really good angle to shoot the gap and Niswanger can't get to him because there are too many bodies cutting his angle off. When you watch that play, there is really no way Niswanger can block him.

Somebody had to have blown their assignment. Otherwise, Niswanger got caught up in a completely unblockable play.
