This is the thing....they may play in a weaker conference, but it's not like they are winning their games by a point or a field goal....they're slaughtering their opponents. They're undefeated and if you've ever watched them play, you don't need to watch them against Texas to know that they're pretty damn good.

Alabama -- 14 (and going up after this weekend) Florida -- 20 (and going up after this weekend) Texas -- 41 Cincinnati -- 58 (and going up after this weekend) TCU -- 68 BSU -- 80 Garcia Bronco's comments about scheduling makes me wonder when Utah/Michigan last year was originally scheduled, because the opposite took place... Utah wanted a decent OOC opponent, but Michigan sucked. |

TCU has a problem getting good games too. The top tier schools don't want to risk a loss to a tough ooc opponent so they won't schedule the games. Texas Tech (while not an elite school) just recently backed out of a future game with TCU.

When compared to Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Wyoming and Air Force.... yes.

I'd take Tennessee, Georgia and possibly even South Carolina, Auburn and Arkansas over BYU. Hell, BYU got kicked around by Florida State.

![]() FTR, if Florida/Alabama and Texas are undefeated they should be in the NC. If Texas loses (which I doubt will happen) then TCU should go. |

BYU is your standard for a strong conference opponent?
ARLINGTON, Texas — As BYU prepares to face No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday, it's hard to ignore the Cougars' futility against ranked nonconference opponents. BYU has dropped 12 consecutive games to ranked nonconference opponents and since joining the Mountain West Conference in 1999, the Cougars are 2-13 against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. The last time the Cougars beat a ranked nonconference foe was in 1998, when they downed No. 14 Arizona State at home, 26-6. The last time BYU defeated a ranked nonconference opponent on a neutral field was on New Year's Day, 1997, with a 19-15 victory over No. 14 Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl. And the last time the Cougars knocked off a nonconference team ranked in the Top 10 occurred in 1990, when they upset No. 1 Miami in Provo, 28-21. In his four years at the helm, BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall owns a 1-6 mark against ranked opponents. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...nkTrack=rss-28 |
