My father was born on Vancouver Island to U.S. citizens who were on vacation. He had a dual citizenship for the longest. I always thought they did away with that and he certainly was first class :P US citizen. In a first class US Navy no less. So I guess my question is was she a citizen as the wife of a citizen? Or does that just mean she can hang out?

My wife is a Filipina, she came to the States in '85 on a fiance visa and married her first husband. At that time she was granted permenant resident status.
Two years ago she was finally naturalized, after we had been married for 13 years (I was active Navy). So yes, she was allowed to hang out, but even if we had gotten divorced she would have still been a permenant resident.
