Neither, really anymore. I used to lsten to 610, but I don't live in town anymore. I usually listen to 1560 out of Houston in the morning until 10. I listen to a station out of Calgary at 10 for hockey talk. Jim Rome from 11-2 and then whatever. Some station out of Tulsa 1430 I think, usually after 2. Here's my opinion on KC radio:

I never liked 810 because Keitz seems like a total d-bag. I can't stand the Smoke n Fire segments. I can't stand how Kietz will make some inane point and act like he split the atom. I can't stand the phony disingenuous laugh he does either.
The Border Patrol is ok, but they take so long to get to the point sometimes I just tune out. St. John will say, "don't read this story. I'm not gonna read this story" for three minutes before they finally read a story that doesn't turn out to be that outrageous. If St. John gets out a top 10 list of something he read from a magazine, forget it. He'll stop at every number and just start talking about unrelated stuff and then never get to the list. Plus, I really hate how they play the music underneath the show. That's just terrible. And Jake Gutierrez sucks. I'd rather stab my ears than listen to that dude. I have no idea why they incorporate him into the show.

As far as 610, my main problem with them is their obsession with the format style. They seem to love the point/counterpoint. THIS SEGMENT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SUBJECT A. PLEASE CALL WITH YOUR POINT ON THAT AND NOTHING ELSE. Which is usually something like, "Do you think the Chiefs should look at Mike Vick? Give us a call." Then you just get people on either side calling in and just saying the same things over and over. "Um, yeah, this is Joe in Olathe. Mike Vick should sign here. People get more mad about Vick than Leonard Little, you know? How come nobody ever says that?"
Then the next segment they choose another subject and let dumbasses on both sides argue that point and that point only.
The best shows lay out a few topics, talk about a few things and let callers call in with an opinion on any of those topics or something else, as long as it's interesting. 610 never gets that, and I don't think they will.

One thing I strongly dislike about 610 (mainly Wright, Chris/Cowboy did this a lot before leaving 610) is that sometimes they focus too much on poking fun at 810. I remember switching from Petro to Wright after 810 went on commercial, the first thing I hear Wright say when I switched over was about how Petro and him are having a close ratings battle. Wright really needs to stop talking about Petro on the air and worry about himself.

I recently got the ESPN Radio app on my iPhone and I listen to that most of the time while driving. Love the app.

Weren't you interning at 810? How'd that go?

I try to listen to them occasionally, but can never make it more than 2-3 minutes.

It's the auditory equivalent of Roy III.

Depending on the car I drive, it's either Sirius NFL Radio or ESPN Radio.

I can’t listen to either any longer. Thankfully with the good weather, I ride the motorcycle in during good weather. But on the days I drive in, I listen to 103.7 or news radio.

810 is brutal to listen to ; it’s like a huge info-mercial. Pimping where they’re broadcasting from; EVERY GD day it’s “c’mon down here when you can get X for $x.xx…..”. The Smoke and Fire segments were horrible

Plus, it doesn’t help that football is the only sport I watch/follow. So, 90% of the year they’re talking about sports I could care less about.

It was alright, just added some experience to see how a radio broadcast goes.

Steven St. John once asked me if I posted on Chiefs Planet. I'll admit I was intimidated because he asked in an angry tone. (He asked me this the day after I started a thread here saying that 810 said that Tony Gonzalez will be on Jim Rome's TV show.) I wasn't sure what to tell him, so I said "yeah.."

Later that morning, he goes on air and said that if he could give his interns any piece of advice, it would be to prevent message boards. I wasn't paying attention to what the topic was about, but heard that part and I assumed he targeted that to me. Nicholas Athan once told me it'd be best to stay away from Chiefs Planet.

That's probably because he'd get his ass handed to him on here because he's a ****ing idiot.

I don't really know why. I never had a bad day while at 810. My "worst day" (or in better words, my least comfortable experience or moment) was that moment right there. I knew I didn't offend him or his show/station on here, so I had no idea what the big deal was about posting on here. I'm not going to listen Nick or Steven and take their advice. It's not my fault people have nothing but negative feelings about Nick. I'm not sure what Steven has against you guys.

I think they'll have someone (at each station) kind of lurk on message boards to get a feel for the pulse, and to see if there's any stories they may have missed on. I've heard both stations discuss stuff as "new news" that was talked about on the CP a day or two before. I think the actual air talent stay off message boards because, in their minds, they're "professional sports journalists" and need to give the aura of being elevated above the average message board junkie. Even though many here on the CP are often better informed that the local sports hosts (Twibell was terrible, never prepared, Whitlock the same) you don't become part of the audience if you're the entertainer.

Does that make sense?
