2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

LOL, thx for the asshole response. Bottom line, no one would say Hosmer or Myers' defense is "average at best", which is what you originally said in your snarky comment about a future Royals lineup. That was simply an inaccurate statement.

That wasn't an asshole response; it was a calm, reasoned explanation of what my words meant and what you missed.

This is an asshole response: stop reading like a disabled second grader. Scouts and Royals prospect websites are saying right now that Hosmer and Myers' defense is no better than average at the moment. Which is fine because they are prospects in A ball with lots of development time. So **** that erroneous "bottom line" noise about their defense. Again, you left off my words "right now" which I need to explain to you again because you apparently haven't grasped the concepts of past, present and future. Right now means at this present stage in the player's development. I'm literally just repeating myself from my prior post so I refer you to that post and, failing that, a goddamned dictionary. As for snark? I disagree. Nothing snarky about pointing out the defensive deficiencies of an infield with Moustakas, Aviles and Callaspo playing at the same time. I called it "atrocious" with the caveat that it could be better than atrocious depending on (Jesus, I hate repeating myself for simpletons) whether or not Hosmer, Myers and Moustakas reach their defensive potential. That isn't snarky. This long paragraph I'm typing is snarky.

Moose with another HR tonight. 2 runs, 2 RBIs and 2 walks to go along with the HR. Gordon was 2 for 4 with a HR and triple. D. Robinson had 2 more steals to get to 24 on the season. Hosmer with a quiet night.

Moustakas' line, through 29 games:

.400 | 11 | 38 | 30R | 0 SB | 15 BB | 18 SO

Wasn't someone suggesting a month ago that Moore deserved to be fired for drafting Moustakas?

Hosmer's line isn't as impressive, but here it is:

.381 | 2 | 29 | 23R | 7 SB (0 CS) | 22 BB | 14 SO

Hosmer DOES have 16 2B and a .569 SLG %, both respectable totals considering the league and home ball park he plays in. It's pretty clear he could play RF if necessary. He's definitely a good enough athlete, and I know he has the arm to do it (was clocked at 93 as a pitcher in HS).

The thing I'm really digging about each of these guys is the plate discipline they're exhibiting. Hosmer especially is doing a great job drawing walks, but Moose is showing much better K/BB ratios than he did previously.

I think it's time for Moose to see AAA. Maybe give him until the end of the month at AA, then move him. He should be in Omaha by the end of the minor league all-star break...

Hosmer's BB/K ratio is a bit better albeit from small sample sizes. And he as SEVEN stolen bases? That really stood out to me for some reason.

I'm not too worried about Hosmer's lack of power, considering the park he's playing in. Keep in mind, he's putting up great numbers in the same park that Moose really struggled with just last season. Things couldn't be going better right now in the minors. Too bad Duffy quit and Bianchi got hurt, as they surely would have supplemented what's looking to be one of the best farm systems in baseball. To top it off, Arguellos hasn't even started pitching yet.

I have a suspicion - and it is based off of nothing but sheer hope - that Duffy will return to the organization. I'm probably just all feel-goody about how the farm system is performing this season.

Yeah, I think the best thing to look at in Wilmington is SLG percentage. Hosmer's is quite healthy, and he's hitting a lot of doubles.

I think Duffy will eventually come back. He just needed some time away from baseball. Arguelles has electric potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table.

Bianchi getting hurt sucks... I really think he would have gotten a chance at the big league level this year.

It is one of the best minor league systems in baseball right now. I think by the end of the year, the Royals have three of the top 20 prospects in the minors (Moose, Hosmer, Montgomery) and a couple more in the top 50 (Crow, Myers).

His "other interests" are drinking and drugging with his old friends from HS. It's not like he left to pursue med school.
