2010 Kansas City Royals Repository thread

All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth, me and atleast 5 others will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

Welcome! "Grab a Brew... don't cost nuthin"...[spills beer on feet]

There will always be glaring snubs when the fans vote in the starters and the rule i mentioned above about each team having a starter.

BUt thats the fun of it i guess??

Has there ever been talk of expanded rosters for the game?

They've already expanded the rosters a couple times... I believe they added a spot this year. But people are going to throw a fit because Omar Infante made it as a utility guy. He's not even a starter for the Braves.

Joakim Soria is our lone representative for the 2010 All Star Game.

I thought DDJ was more deserving but perhaps the AL team had a bigger need for pitching than defense and hitting.

I've never understood all of the love for an outfielder with NO power, NO speed, and a career batting average less than .300. Yes, he's versatile. He can play all 3 outfield positions, and, well, uh, I guess that's about it.

I've heard Soren Petro go on and on about DeJesus to the point that you'd think the guy is going to Cooperstown. DeJesus is a decent player who would make a nice 4th outfielder on a really good team.

It's not as if he's batting over .320 this year with an OPS over .800.

But yeah, he'd definitely be a 4th outfielder on a competent team.

John Buck is as much of an all star as Ken Harvey.
The Jays had 2 other All-Stars (Wells, Bautista), and Gonzalez and Romero were arguable cases. It's not like the manager chose Buck, he was the players' choice.

I'm not sure if this was posted in one of the other threads...honestly I'm not used to tracking this many Royals threads in July...

Last night, Moose was 4-4, 2HR's, 5 RBI's in a 10-9 win.

However, he did not repeat as Texas League Player of the Month for June. That honor goes to Naturals First Baseman Clint Robinson, who in June hit .409, 8 HR's, 18 extra base hits, 24 runs scored, and 22 RBI. He also went 2-4 with a HR in the Texas league All Star Game. ON the year, he's hittine .315 with 14 HR's and 53 RBI in 77 games. He ranks 4th in the league in AVG, 4th in HR's, 2nd in RBI, first in hits, 2nd in slugging percentage, third in OBP, and 1st in doubles. (From Naturals Web site).

So far this year, Moose is batting .358 with 21 HR's and 75 RBI in just 246 AB's. His OPS is an insane 1.132. The bad? 13 errors lead the team.

Alex Gordon is at .320 with an OPS of 1.013 and 12 HR's. Lots of strikeouts, however.

Kila is batting .313 with 16 HR's. But his OBP is .447 and his OPS is 1.073 on the wings of 74 walks (with 230 AB's).

Is this a pattern with Moose (the errors) that goes way back? Or is this something that can be coached? I'm not arguing for either side, just wondering aloud.

Because if he's not a MLB 3rd baseman, does that make AC our third baseman of the present and future? Where does Moose go? Obviously trades will need to happen and maybe we can, as some have suggested, strike gold by sending a prized prospect at a position of depth for a legitimate star elsewhere.

He's consistently shown he can't hit over a full season as a catcher. And if he isn't hitting, the only attribute he brings is his game calling. His defensive and throwing skills are below par.
Holy Shit!!! You quoted triple crown stats. Hamas is going to have a seizure.

He's batting .329, reerun. That's sixth in the league. He would probably start on any team in the league at this point in his career.

Batting average is fairly worthless statistic, and the Royals provide the strongest evidence for my argument.

Where do they rank in batting average as a team? And how efficient/high-quality is their offense?
