GIF'D UP! 2010

It was one year ago that Bernard Pollard missed five tackles in one preseason game. Angered by his ineptness, I gif'd his ass up.

The gifs didn't lie. Pollard was exposed as a fraud, cut and banished from Kansas City. Emboldened by this great success, I created a massive a thread in which we exposed every fraud on the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs.

No one escaped the wrath of GIF'D UP. Every week, the ****ing axe came down with thunder. It was brutal, it was bloody, and it used up a ****ton of bandwidth.

GIF'D UP is back for 2010 and season two. We're going to expose every fraud on the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs. Let's get this show on the road. There are 20 weeks to the Super Bowl, Corey Mays, Jon McGraw, Ryan O'Failaghan and Rudy Niswanger are still Chiefs, and we need to send Mike Vrabel into early retirement.

LOCK AND LOAD!

In about an hour, we officially kick it off with the Atlanta review.

By the way, there's a thread here somewhere that includes a link to the video the NFL distributed to all the teams. It does a good job of explaining the rule(s) and the difference between a legal or illegal hit.

But, essentially, it's as I described ... no hitting of the head or neck area.

I don't think he had sufficient time to hit Charles ... it would have been nice if Charles had picked up the blitz or, alternatively, turned back to the quarterback sooner.

He did, however, have time to hit McCluster coming across ... had he looked toward the space the blitzer had vacated.

5 games in and you are already trying to fill an agenda?

IF we ever do draft a quarterback, remind me to not listen to any of your evaluations of him.

The guy is a rookie and has given up a few scores to some damn good NFL players...thats what happens to rookies. Even the best of them.

...

Concerning Moeaki...5 games in and he is likely our best looking draft pick so far out of a very very promising class. He has looked great...but...keep in mind that this kid player his best ball in the biggest games...if we make the playoffs this kid will play his heart out and will make an impact in every facet of the game.

Notice that about the only times Cassel has been pressured is when Moeaki is on a route...when he is blocking, he OWNS the defender...just ask Robert Mathis of the Colts or Cushing of the Texans.

He should be a scary player once he actually starts fulfilling his potential... remember, he is just a rookie (5 games in) and he never really got to fulfill his potential for Iowa either because of purely FLUKE injuries.

If he had better luck in only that department, he would have been a mid first rounder.

I know this isnt gonna be popular here, but that was one instance where it looks like he is trying to exploit single coverage. At least in the limited view of the gif, he was in single coverage.

If he had checked down (which seems like the right choice in this scenario) it would have been just another checkdown we would bitch about...at least he was trying to push the ball downfield a bit in this instance.

When you get single coverage, you try and exploit it. Especially with 8 in the box (again, as it appears in the gif)

Cassel completes that pass and the receiver breaks one tackle and its 6.

My problem is he stared down the receiver the whole time. Defenders pick up on this. I'd rather him check down to McCluster or Charles who most like both would break it for at least 10 yards or so.

The Right Guard double-teamed the Nose Tackle instead of picking up the blitzer... I don't think blitz pickup was Charles responsibility. They only brought 5, our O-line should at least be able to get hands on everybody to at least slow them down.

You're probably right about Charles ...

As for Mr. BossChief's comment about single coverage vs. taking the checkdown ... I'm not sure we're seeing a whole lot of checkdowns, are we?

I don't study the tapes anymore ... I don't get copies like I used to ... but, I don't remember seeing Cassclamp going through progressions or reads much. Rather, he seems to take the first option or he throws it away.

I'd appreciate it if someone could set the record straight on this, though. Because, currently, I'm thinking that Weis is instructing him to take his first option and that's the reason he seems to stare down his receiver.
