QB Class Starting to Look Like S&@* - Page 13

Anyone else disappointed with the way this QB class is starting to pan out after looking very promising?

Newton has gone Hollywood
Gabbert is scared to throw at the combine
Locker went to hell as a Senior
Mallett being the 2nd coming of Ryan Leaf

Ponder is starting to look like the prize QB in this draft to me at this point.

I think you are probably giving a little more credit then he deserves do to being an MU fan. If MU starts producing top of the line talent over a decade or so(like they have the last 3 years) you will be a little more critical of their NFL prospects I predict.

You might want to go back and see what I had to say about William Moore, for one. I was also super high on Colin Brown and Chase Coffman.

Newton is unquestionably going to be drafted in the first. You think teams are going to reach for Kaepernick in the first? If not, then your whole theory of Kaepernick being drafted before Newton is reeruned.

There's a difference between Newton's play for pay speculation and suggestions that Mallet used/s drugs.

Some team will take a chance on Newton.

Reggie Bush, a RB, went #2 overall even though teams were aware even then that there were rumors about his accepting "gifts" at USC.

This is a QB.

That is my point. I said I THINK both will go in the 2nd which I why I think Kaepernick goes before Newton.

Predictions are not off limits.

But neither is ridicule when those predictions seem to be based in fantasy.

Which makes character even more important and he seems to have issues beyond the pay to play.

It's just a huge investment in taking this guy in the 1st and if you miss it might set you back 4-5 years if you aren't willing to cut your losses if he doens't pan out. I wouldn't risk that on this guy now.

To be fair to Newton, he has yet to be linked to accepting gifts. That's his father. I'm gonna guess when a team picks Cam that his father isn't going to be up there holding the jersey with him.

Since it's almost a given that a rookie salary scale will be in place when these guys sign, the risk is not nearly as high as it has been in the past.

That's impossible to say at this point and who knows what the scale might be. If they get something similar to the NBA then yeah you are right.

Lets hope he gets drafted by a team that can actually work with QB's instead of **** them over royal, then.

I'd be willing to give Alex Smith more chances at starting. It's not like you are always questioning why he was drafted #1. He still shows flashes of being a #1 overall pick and he plays for the 49ers, a team that installed 5 different OC's in his 6 years there. The guy gets booed HARD in SF and he'll come right back out and make them cheer. I feel sorry for the kid. He can't win in SF.
