Curious to see if we have any other athletes out here.

I don't have a stopwatch. Maybe I should see if one of my friends does and get some jackass to time me.

It's odd to me that there is such a backlash against the idea that there are a lot of very fast people out there when you consider the raw numbers involved.

Absolutely. We had 652 kids in my graduation class alone.

When you look at 120 Division I football schools, each with a 100 guys or more per team, then add in I-A, II and the NAIA ranks, it's not unreasonable to believe there are thousands of kids that run 4.5, especially with the nutrition and training regimens that exist today.

Plus, this is a ****ing FOOTBALL FORUM. How is it completely out of the realm of possibility that a few guys here ran a 4.5 or better?

I had over 2,000 people at my HS my freshman year. So if you figure only 1% of the male population is legitimately fast, that's roughly 10 people from my HS that could've pegged that 4.5 mark or better.

And comparing NFL players that can do this at 200 lbs with high school athletes and flat out runners that are doing it at 160 lbs is equally asinine. NFL athletes aren't amazing because of their raw speed, but more because of their ability to be that fast and that strong. The musculature involved in being cock strong like a lot of these guys are often interferes with your ability to be fast.

So a HS kid that doesn't have that build that can put up a 40 time in the mid 4s is very very feasible. Then when you look at the raw numbers involved, this idea that we've known people that can do it is hardly outside the realm.

I've never referenced how fast I was 1 time in this thread...my entire argument was...your 4.5 high school time wasn't accurate...that your 90 mph fastball would have landed you a high draft pick after your junior year in college...and batism (or whoever that as) you're not faster than larry johnson...they timed my friend (all decade ihsa) at 4.5 and below and he'd time probably a 4.9 at the combine...I am not impressed by your 35 yard dash times in high school and dirk digler isn't and never was faster than jamaal charles.

And yes...if you went to a powerhouse inner city school I imagine you do see more 4.4 speed than normal...I highly doubt there is an abundance of 4.4 speed at shawnee mission east...and again...95% of this board is middle/upper middle class white people so I think I have a pretty good idea about the athletic prowess of the majority of this board...I'm sure we have a lot of former/current athletes...but please...how many white people run 4.4's at the combine every year? Huh? Huh?

When we ran 40's, the coaches would immediately tell us our times and write it down. We'd continue to run throughout the summer and before two-a-days in an effort to improve our speed.

So are you stating that my coaches, the same coaches that have won state championships in both Missouri AND Kansas, and put countless guys into college programs at varying levels (and even the NFL), lied about our times the second our foot reached the line?
