He sure did have a bad inning... The whole "ole" thing was a great thing for every non-Royals fan to see... It gave them a whole new layer of laughing to help get through the rough days.

Yes, he had a bad inning, and your reaction is overreaction.

Yeah, perhaps him being to lazy to get in front of the ball (tell me he didn't have time after you watch the replay) and tell me being critical of him is an overreaction. Was he just trying to be cool? I don't know, but that was a huge mistake for a player in the bigs in a critical inning.

I asked earlier today if Betemit had played 2nd base at any time, and someone said he'd be a butcher there.

I assumed that was because he is not a good fielder, and his misplay on that ball confirms that.

He's not a great fielder, but he has played as well as one can ask, and better.

When we see some of the young guys come up, he'll be a solid untility player.

Be pissed about his miscues, but if you suggest he should be shipped out because of one bad outing, you're overreacting.

Not getting in front of a ground ball is more than a bad outing, it's a sign that you don't play fundamental baseball. A clear sign of a large problem. And not playing fundamental baseball is a reason to send you down. If not for that, other than injury, why send somebody down? At least call him out in front of the public that pays his salary (ultimately), even if subtlety, and put him on notice.

I'm pretty sure you can't send Betimit down without subjecting him to waivers. And he would get claimed.

Good point. Not a good thing for us Royals fans. I'll bet we won't wave another 90-100 loss season either.

Looking at his career, he has played just about every position but pitcher and catcher.

He's a guy that probably has to work on his fundamentals constantly, but still doesn't have it come to him naturally.

He's spent all or part of 11 seasons in the minors.

He's probably never going have it come easily to him.

OK, a stiff drink later, and I'll agree with most of it. However, it'll all come "easier" if he'd listen to his coaches and work on his fundamentals. I still think those things (the fundamentals) should have been worked out before they reach the bigs. For whatever hasn't come "easy" to him, he sure got lucky getting to the bigs. It's all good, and we'll always have our Royals, they're here forever...
