According to reports by ESPN he is going to be released. He killed us in the playoff game. I would take him in a second thoughts?

I agree with what you're saying, I just hope that Pioli doesn't think TE is an area that needs to be addressed immediately.

Hopefully, he has a list of guys he wants and has prioritized our holes.

Can't imagine TE is very high on that list - and if it is, we're ****ed.

We need blocking. We don't need another pass-catching TE. So regardless if they were to cut Pope and seek out another TE it has to be a blocking TE.

But you are right, I see no need to address that position at this time.

This. If the Chiefs fill as many holes as possible in free agency, and have money left over, and Heap is available, and they want to overpay him for a year hoping he'll be the final piece in the puzzle, then it's a good deal for you guys. With the running game and defense and all the rest of the pieces, having Heap in a two-TE set with Moeaki could make a huge difference. But I certainly wouldn't overpay him when there are other needs to fill.
