If local markets mattered Nebraska would not be in the Big Ten right now, and Clemson would not be in the discussion to become the next new SEC team. How many people in Chicago actually watch Depaul games? You think if Depaul wasn't in the Big East, their games wouldn't draw in the Chicago market? Conferences are looking for elite programs that will draw in a national audience, not just their local TV markets.

That's certainly possible.
