Personal bullshit... yeah yeah. Selling my car.

Want an quick opinion. Bought the Ford Focus 9 months ago for $5500. Since then I have put about 6k miles on it. Car is freaking great but it has 3 glaring problems. AC is mildly cold at best, some paint nicks here and there, and there is some dry rot on the front tires.

Right now, I have an offer on the table for $6600. Do you pull the trigger? This is not my only vehicle.

True. New tires would likely be $500 all around.

Now to decide how to spend this money on the next car.

Well..........YEAH!!

Have you ever changed out the cabin filter? Most people treat that part of the car like a red haired step child and never think about it. My AC wasn't blowing as cold as I thought it should have last week and I went in and changed out the cabin filter. It was like night and day. I bet the temp went down at least 10 degrees.

This X10. Here in PHX we change our cabin filters every spring.

So you're going to make over $1000 after putting 6000 miles on it, and it's not you're only car?
WhyTF even ask a question like this. What do you think people are going to say seriously.

"Don't sell that car dude!! It's a classic. It'll be worth tens of thousands of dollars one day"

They say to do it every 12-15k. Most people don't do it the entire time the own their car. The SUV I changed it out in, has 35k and this filter looked like it had been outside in a pig pen for a year. I bet "at least" half the flow was gone.

I'm not a car guy per say. I like nice cars and all but I know that there are people here with way more experience than me here. I've talked to a few people about this possibly happening and have gotten mixed replies.

Just putting it out there for more input. It is my only car, I have a motorcycle otherwise so I can still get around. The wife has a car but we have differing work schedules.

Forgive me for trying to make an informed decision.

That's a good suggestion. I hadn't any idea those were rated for 10-20k miles only until the dealer told me they'd changed it. After pulling one, its easy to see why... I could almost make one with dryer sheets and glue stick... $20 is probably $19.75 in profit...

Good luck with the sale. I would sell that car in a heartbeat if I could for a profit. Those specialized models only have much extra value to a subset of buyers, if you have one on the line then do it...

For avg. wear and tear 12k is probably good. Out here there is so much dust and crap in the air ours get dirty faste plus we need our AC to be at max cold since it is hotter than frick out here half the year. Other day it was 117 which doesn't sound much hotter than 110 but you really notice it if your air isn't tip-top cold.
Bet you noticed a big difference in your AC when you changed yours.

My dealer tried to charge me $35 labor to replace mine. I did it myself instead, pretty much like changing the filter on your home AC. Nothing to it.
