Bolded players are still on rosters in the NFL.
How many are still making a difference in the NFL? The talent on this team was a joke.

Completely disagree.

We had cornerstone players: RB, WR, LT, 2 LBs, 2 CBs, etc. Now, one could argue that Haley maximized the talent from these players, but it's disingenuous IMO to claim that the roster was devoid of talent.

Depth is an issue with all NFL teams; front-line talent trumps, and ours had a great deal of promise.

Agree. However Charles was a little unknown in 08.

I'd argue that we have as much front line talent as anyone in the NFL. We are lacking at 1 position and depth.

The argument is that you can't replace forty players in three off-seasons, one with the lame-duck scouting staff.

A lame duck scouting staff coming off a monster draft in '08. Thus, the staff received this moniker because of Pioli's own, sorry but it's true, egotism that he, the vaunted Executive of the Decade, could do things better.

And he brought us Cassel. That's Pioli's level of intelligence.

Yeah that was a bit arrogant of Pioli. Which QB's were on the board at 3rd overall and which ones were worth at least a top 10 pick? Spending a 3rd for a top ten isn't too bad. At least you don't end up with a just a kicker after drafting 7 guys.

Sure, he botched the Cassel bit, but who should have gotten instead over that timeframe? I am inclined to say, given the available options, Cassel wasn't really that bad of a choice.

The 2008 draft was a great draft.
Dorsey, Albert, Flowers, Charles, and Carr

But 2011 looks like it could be as promising from what we've seen.
Baldwin, Hudson, Houston, Bailey are all contributing ALREADY
The jury is out on the rest, but Brown, Stanzi and Powe all appear to be possible difference makers down the line. Miller, who really knows.

And you can hardly discount the 2010 draft. Berry is critical, as this season demonstrated. Arenas is a plus nickel-back and return man, which is certainly worth a second round pick. Asamoah and Lewis are solid. Moeaki will be great if he can stay healthy. Who knows about Sheffield.

How can you say the talent was a joke, when 3 years later, other than Berry the best players on the team were inherited from the previous staff?

Carr, Flowers, Hali and DJ are the core of the defense. With Berry, those are by far the 5 best defenders on the team.

Albert is still the best offensive lineman, and Waters would be the 2nd best if he wasn't traded. Bowe is still the best receiver by far, Charles the best RB and Battle the best backup RB. TG was much better than any TE KC has put on the field.

In 3 years they've added 1 impact defender in Berry, and 1 potential impact TE who is/was always injured (and non-injured TE's who are just as good or better were available).

Pretty much right on. Cant really see where the roster has drmatically improved, other than WR, since Pioli took over.

We have seen major improvement at WR, G, depth at CB, depth in the front seven, and safety.
