I don't buy it. If Pioli could win by signing a better QB I believe he would do it. His job depends on winning, not proving that he made a good choice on Cassel.

Never underestimate Pioli's ego, and he doesn't want his 63 million dollar investment look bad by someone who has significantly lower pay grade. Ask yourself why they didn't try to sign a good backup but instead stuck with semipro reject in Palko. He'll go down with ship to prove he's right, and this is being verified by other independent sources also.
