Teicher: Muir is the latest to endorse Crennel

Muir is the latest to endorse Crennel

Offensive coordinator Bill Muir took time in his usual weekly news conference to do a couple things. First, he became the latest to endorse Romeo Crennel as the permanent head coach. He also took a swipe at former coach Todd Haley. Without mentioning Haley by name, Muir suggested the offense last week operated more efficiently with Crennel as his boss. The Chiefs appeared to relay the play-call to quarterback Kyle Orton in a manner that was consistently more timely than when Haley was the head coach. ''If you thought it appeared that,'' Muir said, ''then it probably was. ''Romeo delegates authority and expects the people who are given authority to do their job. He’s hands-on and he knows what he wants. As long as he’s getting it, he’s pretty calm. If he’s not getting it, then the calmness disappears in a hurry.'' Muir also suggested Crennel was the best hire for the Chiefs as their permanent head coach. ''Romeo is an excellent choice at this particular time,'' Muir said. ''He’s good for this football team. The Kansas City Chiefs would do well to hire Romeo Crennel. ''He’s the man for the job here. The defense has started to turn the corner. I think it would be a shame to change that. Romeo’s demeanor as a head football coach relates very well to the players. He has a sternness about him without being a dictatorial type of man. He will do a good job.''

I don't think it would be a big deal or a bad thing if Muir stays on the staff and goes back to OL coach while they bring in a new OC or promote Zorn.

The problem will be with Muir if we win out and the offense takes significant strides forward. Much harder for Pioli to excuse firing him at that point.
It's the players I was refering to. While they will play it could be hard to get them to buy into a different HC.

Yeah what to do with Muir would be an issue.

Ah, but it will appear to be Romeo's decision.... absolving Pioli of direct guilt. (even though he will be intimately involved).

Blah, blah. Of course guys are going to say this. Shouldn't have any affect on whether they hire crennel if Pioli is doing his job and Muir's schmoozing better not have any affect on Crennel keeping him.

The best thing about Crennel. He has had first hand experience of how Cassel stresses his defense

with the way our defense is and how Romeo completely 180'd it, give him the job! hiring a new head coach could set the defense back and we are seriously a QB, some depth and a couple of o-linemen away from Superbowl contending, assuming Charles, Moeaki and Berry can recover from those injuries.

hell ya we are. We have a talented team dude, talent everywhere but the most important position. OR maybe Orton will be our new Rich Gannon, only keep him this time and not let him get MVP for the raiders, but you know, Rich Gannon had a similar rode as Orton is having. NFL journeyman QB, never could stay in one city until he been around the world, learned a few things, learned the ways of the force and once he got that last opportunity, he killed it!

Maybe Orton is our new Gannon.
