There have been some huge fails in sports with decision making. But one thing that I notice is that nobody ever talks about how the Chargers let Brees walk into free agency. He's gonna go down as top 5 of all time IMO. I think he's winning another Superbowl this year, he's just that good and he's in the zone.

You have the Herschel Walker debacle, Babe Ruth going to the yankees, Falcons trading Favre, Hornets trading Kobe and the Chargers letting Brees go.

He also had a serious arm injury, and the Chargers had a franchise QB waiting in the wings who happens to also be playing very well.

While they regret letting Brees go, I dont' think anyone would fault them for doing it. They couldn't afford to give two mammoth contracts for their QB--they chose to go for the guy who had less health concerns.

In my opinion, coaching more than anything has held the Chargers back, not QB play.
