I think the color really adds a new degree of reality for me. The old black and whites that we've all seen a million times almost become fictitious in our minds. With the color it reminds us that these people were real people and these powerful events really happened.

it was just the opposite for me. Won't argue that they're really cool, but adding the color makes it look fake to me and takes away from that "history" feel.

To me it makes it more realistic. I can envision myself back then much better. Sometimes in my mind I kind of see everything from the past as dusty, dirty, and gray because of the black and white photos and video.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine the past with bright, vivid colors.

Yes. The black and white keeps it in the "classic story" mode for lack of a better term. Keeps you from picturing yourself in that era.
