Stuff You Could Live Without But Must Have Because Of The Quality

I've been going to do this thread for a few months, so here goes.

What are some things that you know of out there, that you may not need, but are in a class of their own. I'm talking top notch stuff, well above just very good, the best of the best and well worth it, because of the extreme quality. Things you would like, or would make great gifts for the right person. I'm not talking high dollar things like cars, lets say around $300, or less. Perhaps this will help with future gift ideas for people.

I'll post two examples:

1. I was trying to hunt down a leather bottle koozie, a cow (hair out) koozie to drink from, out in the man cave. (yeah twisted sense of humor) I looked all over and finally found one, right here in town, after googling the hell out of it. As far as I know, these folks are the only ones out there that make top notch leather koozies.

When I found them, I said the hell with the cow hair and invested in a bison bottle koozie. It's bison hide that's lined in Neoprene with a zipper and all handmade. I tested it all summer and I can safely say, this thing keeps my beer colder longer than anything I have ever tried, not even close. On top of that, the way it's made, it will last forever. I had one knocked out for my brother and my Dad as well. They have several different kinds of hides they can use, including things like shark.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/MontanaRedS...ion_id=8099603

2. If you, or someone in your family likes top notch candy, I'm talking the best you have ever tried, the Parrot Confectionery is a safe bet. These guys have been around along time, the early 50's to be exact and it looks about the same in there, old school. Whenever I'm in Helena, I have to stop for either a hot fudge, or caramel sunday. I also pick up two quarts of each for my parents and bring them back to town. All their stuff is handmade and or hand dipped. If you like candy, or have to pick out a gift for someone else who does, this is a safe bet.

Lets hear it, expain what it is and post a link.

I definitely have seen some cheapo Sennheisers but I think they make some decent high end models as well. What do you prefer? Ultrasone? AKG? Beyer?

Dammit. Drug store was all out. The only place in town that has it is a small liquor store, for $150 a bottle. I'll wait until I go out of town.

*upon edit: This liquor store is notorious for overcharging.

My Kershaw knife. Certainly not THE most expensive knife out there, but this model fits my hand perfectly, and I've had it since I was 21 years old (thats 24 years). Best feature aside from ability to hold and edge is that two small yet common allen bolts are all that holds the three pieces together, so cleaning is a breeze. That greasy deer fat that is hard to clean off of most knives? Take this apart, put it in hot soapy water, scrub it, oil it, put it back together. Like new.

Good dependale knife.
I carry a SOG Flash, have for the past 3 yes or so. I've had a couple close cals with folding knives. almost cut off ..not my hole finger but the one next to it........ba dum bump. This SOG is pretty nice with assisted opening, a lock blade and it's almost indestructible. i feel almost naked if I don't have a good quality knife on me.

I'll say. I haven't had any in a year or so. I might have to convince the wife to spend some of her bonus check on a bottle.

On a side note, this was the last one I bought for myself. (Bison hide) I had her hang a fish concho on there. I also had her put a Grizzy bear concho on the one I ordered for my brother. They look great on the flatter skins, but I left the alligator as is.

I ****ing love this shit. Mom always bought Pace Picante sauce, and I didn't think twice about it until I got out on my own and started feeding myself. I can't stand Pace. This is the best shit ever.

Quality shoes. I end up spending more money on shitty shoes that I have to re-buy every couple months than if I would have bucked up and bought some decent ones. That and waterproof and comfort are absolutely priceless.

Docking Station for my laptop. I hate doing real work on a laptop. This allows me to work from the office and home and not buying two computers.

Butchered beef. It's expensive, but I love having quality beef.

A good Pen/Pencil. I don't go top of the line, but the difference between decent and crap is truly amazing.

My pocketknife is critical also. I have a Kershaw Vapor that I work with. They're not top of the line, but they have decent steel and Cabela's had them on sale for like $12, so I bought 4. That way I can lose/break several before I have to go looking again.

I also have a little bitty Gerber one I wear when I dress up. It fits in my pocket really really nicely and I can still keep a knife.
