Sunglasses buying philosophy

I'm getting old, and I love it, mostly.

Never been a sunglasses wearer, thus never been a sunglasses buyer.

Don't know where I'll land. I am sunglasses-agnostic.

Which are you? Why?

Defintely take a look at a pair if you get the chance.

I should probably wear some for golf. The UV index in New Mexico is very high almost year round. The problem is that I just don't feel comfortable with sunglasses. The couple of times I've tried it I find myself thinking more about the glasses than my shot.

You left off the option:

Wore glasses all my life so I could never get cool shades, finally bought a nice pair of prescription ray bans, lost them on vacation, which I now mark as one of the most tragic days of my life.

Folks that blast expensive sunglasses just haven't used 'em much. I'm presently using a pair of Wal-Mart cheapies and they just suck. They don't shade the light well, they're uncomfortable on my nose and they're kinda heavy. I also have a big head so they pinch at my temples and give me a bit of a headache (also a result of the lousy nosepiece)

They actually look pretty sharp and there's not any good way of knowing that they aren't more expensive than they are, but they're just uncomfortable.

The money buys you comfort, not style. It's why showing pictures of expensive sunglasses and saying "Why?" just doesn't make sense. It's not the style that makes them worth the extra money.

Look at it this way - it's not unlike keeping your house at 70 in the summer when you'd be just fine at 74. Sure, 70 costs more, but by God, it's just more comfortable.

There are areas where I'll spend a few extra bucks for added comfort. Sunglasses are one of those areas.
I'm in the market for my first nicer pair of sunglasses, and this is something that concerns me: the lack of options available to someone like me with a big ol' noggin. What brand(s) would you recommend for this?

That's almost the style that I specifically look for. I go for oversized Ray Charles.

I don't buy cheap ass ones because my eyes are to valuable to lose. I wear them WAY more than I used to because I don't want to deal with cataracts any time soon.

I recently decided that I wanted a nice pair of sunglasses. I went to a few places and was shocked at the prices. I want a nice pair with wire frames, polarized and light. I'm not willing to pay 300 bucks...
The cheapest I could find we're Maui Jim's at 150. WTF? I liked them but I'm not willing to waste a car payment for Christ sake.
I wanted to spend less than 70 bucks. Suggestions?
I guess I can stick with the pair I bought at Wally World.

I just bought a pair of $200 Ray-Bans. I had always bought cheap ones but I finally realized my eyes are too sensitive to the light, glares, etc. so I picked these up. The difference is AMAZING. They are polarized and the lenses have all the other features you would expect. They clarity and effectiveness makes all the difference. I really like the Maui Jim's I tried on too (lens quality out of this world) but they were even more expensive and I could not find a pair I liked the style enough to justify the extra money.

Cheapy's from Walmart. I lose or break mine often so spending large amounts of money on sunglasses does not fit in my chaotic life.
