Carpet cleaning tips?

I rented a cheap apartment about six months ago. The carpet was pretty old and dreary.

Through partying, having drinks spilled, on it just general tracking dirt on it have added a bunch of stains myself. I had not really cared, but some recent events have drawn my landlord's attention to it. I'll be honest the carpet should have been replaced before I moved i. The rent is real cheap. If had some problems in the time I've lived here and want to avoid further controversy.

I have been dragging a damn Rug Doctor around for a couple hours now. I've pulled so much dirt out it's crazy. The persistent stains have only faded slightly. I know many of you guys have pets, bars, etc. Sorry for the rambling, but any suggestions?

Honestly, in some state, a landlord can't take deposit for repair of normal wear and tear. If the carpet was crappy to begin with, I'd try that approach.

I would just try to see if you can get a decent deal on new carpet. If you messed it up try to set it right.

I'm not wanting to move out. That isn't a problem. I've just had some personal work and family issues that make need the cheap rent. LOL

What "recent events" have drawn your landlord's attention?

use 'goof off' (the one in the tall can with a lid)

test it in a closet or other corner or something 1st to make sure it doesnt react badly with that specific carpet.

There arent many stains that dont come out with goof off , IME.

I don't really want to get into all that. I've had a rough couple years with various things. Not asking for pity or anything.

Does this vinegar and paper towel type have any merit? It's looking better. Think I'll run the machine one more time before returning it. How about any of these vinegar deals, any truth>

there are other cans of carpet cleaner you can try for stubborn spots, usually some sory of spray on foam and it will come with an agitator....or you us a stiff brush to brush it in, then blot it back out.....

they work ok too, but i prefer goof off

Use the white out to write "CLEAN" on those tough, stubborn stains. Then cover up the white out completely with the scotch tape to keep the dirt and grime from escaping its battle with the cleaning power of the white out. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes tops. The white out and dirts battle will be fierce and epic but in the end the white out should prevail in no more than 20 minutes.

If after 20 minutes the stain is still there, then punch yourself in the nuts because you are a moron for not successfully following my instructions.
