Brady Quinn getting half the first team reps
I am surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but according to the radio on 610 this morning, (Bill Maas and Fescoe) Quinn has been getting about 50% of the first team reps in practice this week.

In the short term this is certainly a good thing because Quinn certainly can't be worse than what Cassel has been so far. But I wonder, what if he starts and does decent? Decent enough to warrant not drafting a first round QB next year. I really want the team to win but I want it to be like last week against the Saints every week where we win in spite of the QB, not because of him or with him really contributing. If Quinn does decent will that preclude them from going hard after a QB next season? (If they ever were going to at all).

*EDIT* I found the podcasts where they talk about this. It starts at about 15:10.

Fescoe asks him how RAC feels about Cassel and so they talk about it. At around 15:10 when they talk about it Maas say, "They are keeping their options open...," then he goes on to elaborate around 15:45,

I found the podcasts where they talk about this. It starts at about 15:45. Fescoe asks him how RAC feels about Cassel and so they talk about it and Maas says, "They are keeping there options open...Quinn is getting about 50% of the reps in practice."

Then they talk about it a little more around the 18:00 mark.

At least that's what I got from it.
Fescoe's tweet meant he got the Quinn stuff from Maas, not a message board, so go back and listen to the podcasts to get the information.

A: No.....we're not talking about a rookie or a guy who's been in the league 2 or 3 years. He's been in the league for 8 years now.....he should know it. He shouldn't have to get better.
He compared Cassel to Elvis Grbac. Sometimes he can make the big play....but he continues to make the same mistakes. Eventually those same mistakes should stop happening.

Yes things can get worse. Just because we haven't seen Quinn suck for several years like we have with Cassel does not make Quinn better. He has sucked there is no reason to expect anything different. Leave Cassel in there and let everything play out.
I want us to draft our own high 1st round QB.

Honestly I dont care if Quinn sucks more, the fact that I dont have to see Matt Cassel play is good enough for me.
