Here's what I've been told. You can believe, not believe, I don't give a shit. I like most of you so I'll put it out there. Just know that my source isn't a janitor, a friend of a friend of a friend, it's someone directly connected with someone high up in the front office.
I posted last night that Clark has a basic man crush on Pioli. That's never wavered. Clark is of the opinion that a QB and a new shiny HC will spark the fanbase (which he's 100% wrong about). Pioli has done a master sales job, but Clark breaking up with him basically was a huge long shot. The real, real shitty part is that not only is he going to be back for 2013, but to attract any HC candidates, Clark knows that he's going to have to lock Pioli is to an extension the length of the contract the HC signs. That's the death blow to all of this. Pioli's not only going to be here for 2013, but baring a miracle here at a minimum of 2 years after that. Now obviously none of this is set in stone, people can miscommunicate information, but this is what I've been told as of 15 minutes ago. Believe at your own risk. The misinfo out there about all of this is crazy. I'm holding out hope it's false, but the tea leaves are all pointing to this being real and that the ****ing fat meathead is back again. He's going to go on a media ass kissing circuit like he did last year to try to portray himself as a nice guy. I can tell you that other people that work in that front office (not the source of my info) were praying he'd be fired. Clark just loves the money Pioli makes for him and he truly believes Pioli was mostly the brains behind the Pats titles. I want to throw up.

Which wasn't true. An extension was offered only to lower the buyout.

The only way I can figure it is that you "give" the extension in exchange for "taking" a less expensive buyout. For Pioli it might make sense because he gets the multi-year extension if he can keep his job. FAX |

I was told an extension was happening. Not that it was signed. An extension offered to lower the buyout? I'm at a loss here. Again, I could care less if you believe me or not, but I talked to Marty 2 minutes ago and the info I have received jives what he's been told as well.

There are plenty of cap guys you can use to manage salary $ etc...that's not even Pioli's forte. |

This philosophy leads to the Chiefs not spending the entire salary cap and making lots of money. Most GM's would fight against this and want to spend as much as they can each year. Especially with the lockout and no salary floor ... In my opinion, Pioli made the Hunt a tons of money and Clark loved it.

The reason they never hit the salary cap is because we dont owe $ to dead contracts, anywhere. You can bet your ass any team bumping the salary cap has a ton of dead $ and bad contracts. I hate the salary cap argument. |

I also believe that Hunt will resist 'cleaning house' unless he thinks that he doesn't really have much choice. The Hunt family is about business and they don't like change unless it's directly related to making money.

How is he making Hunt any more money than Peterson did? How would Pioli make him more money than (insert ANY other available GM) would?

What?
That makes NO sense. How exactly is Pioli making him a lot of money? Ticket sales will be the lowest in the league if Pioli is retained. Clark isn't a stupid business man. Even if all he cares about is money, he knows that firing Pioli is the only way to get more money.

Pioli has his hand in every aspect of the org. Operation costs from the amount of ink used, to paper ordered, to the fabric on sales people's chairs have been micromanaged by him. He has his hands everywhere. He's cut their spending significantly over what Carl had done. That was one of the appeals Clark first had with Scott is SP came in and pinpointed areas to save money. Clark is a business man. He hasn't lost money a single year Pioli has been here.

He then said he didn't even see it happening then because Pioli would be on a short leash regardless and Ferentz wants job security. |
