I hope Dorsey walks in to the room of scouts. Pulls the pin from the grenade and walks back out

Why? Our scouts weren't the problem. The scouts' job is to follow Pioli's playbook. This would be the same stupid mistake we made when Pioli arrogantly chose to ignore Peterson's scouts for the 2009 draft.

All scouts are supposed to be. It's not their job to challenge their superiors on scheme.

You're ****ing clueless.

The scouts job is to watch tape/go to games and evaluate talent. It's not to be a ****ing yes man.

The scout's job is to follow orders. The coach and GM dictate the scheme, and that creates the playbook that scouts have to follow. Their job is to go to games and evaluate talent BASED ON THE PLAYBOOK. They are told exactly what players they are supposed to find. From there, their evaluations trickle to the college scouting director, whose job is to listen to a gazillion scouting reports and sum up the bullet points concisely to the head personnel guy.

Don't blame the guys whose job is to pull together the reports. Blame the multiple levels of leaders above the scouts that are giving them crappy playbooks to follow and that don't do a good job of slotting for draft value. It's not the scout's job to fight with Pioli. That was Emery's job.

Link to prove that the various area scouts were producing high-quality information?

Why are scouts fighing with anyone? They are information feeders. They write their reports based on their evaluations.

Good ****ing christ.

You know he wasn't talking about scheme. And a healthy organization will have a lot of heated debates about players.

But Pioli was far too insecure to allow for this type of environment, based on everything we learned about that worthless ****.

Different situations.

Pioli and the coaching staff weren't in place until late February, early March, giving the team little to no time to get things set up.

This is getting done quick, and there will be time to get others in place in plenty of time ot make evaluations.

Out of the 8 or so teams to fire their HC/GM...I believe we have the quickest turn-around time in regards to the bringing in a new regime this season. Completely ****ing different than when Scott came in...

We have no idea if our scouts are as dumb as Pioli or not. Given the fact that he hired them and our drafts were paltry at best, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they probably aren't very ****ing good.

How anyone could say definitively that the scouts weren't a problem is beyond me.

While I hate Pioli, he ran a very good scouting network. It sounded like they were all over the place in scouting players and very thorough, whereas it felt like Peterson's network wasn't that way. It felt like Peterson relied a lot more on making a few phone calls to his buddies than in listening to his scouts.

They always say the first two rounds are typically calls made by the front office. The later rounds go to the scouts. Think our scouting department did a decent job in the late rounds, especially given that they were recruiting talent for flawed schemes. Scouting is a top down process. The better the vision is from the guys up top, the better our scouts are going to be at finding the right guys.
