There, I said it, he clubs baby seals!
David and Dan Glass are worthless pieces of shit, make no mistake.

However, these idiots spent a representable amount of money this year. Not a lot, no. But enough to put a decent product on the field. The problem is that Dayton ****ing Moore is a mother****ing idiot, and this was established as fact as early as the summer of '09.

I was in the diamond club seats, so not quite the same section, I guess.

I was right behind that rail. I don't have the pictures b/c my phone died, but I figured I was about 30 feet to your 8 o'clock.

Your seats must've been more expensive than ours then. I still couldn't believe that $125/seat didn't so much as get me a hot dogs and coke.

Catchers are often judged, fairly or unfairly, by the number of titles they win.

Well, Yadi has backstopped 2 of them now and there aren't a ton of guys that can say that. He'll probably end up with somewhere near 10 GGs and by the time his career closes he'll have very solid offensive numbers.

Give him 3 more years similar two the last 2 and then 2 more years similar to the 4 before that and he's in the Hall with relative ease.

It's really amazing how he's developed as a hitter. I mentioned it elsewhere, but he's essentially a miniature version of Pujols in his prime - there's just not a good place to pitch him. He obviously doesn't have the power that Pujols had, but he's patient and he will take what a pitcher gives him. He's an outstanding professional hitter and hopefully he'll get a little more MVP consideration this year.

Waino just doesn't walk a lot of people. He was off his game today. The dude could end up winning the Cy Young award. I wouldn't judge your team based on a game against Waino.
They don't first pitch hack nearly as much now that La Russa and McGwire are gone. This is a far more patient team overall.

The numbers don't actually support this.

And honestly, nor does a fair recollection of events. McGwire always espoused a very patient hitting approach and a simple 'back up the box' swing. Mike Easler and Mitchell Page were also similar in this regard.

Hal McRae was a 'grip it and rip it' kind of coach that did not mid first pitch swinging, but that wasn't a common LaRussa theme and it certainly wasn't something you could put at McGwire's feet. Even now, drawing walks is about the only thing the Dodgers do well.

2011: 812 times where they swung and put the first ball in play: 5 times per game.

2012: 810 times where they swung and put the first ball in play: 5 times per game.

2013: 219 times where they swung and put the first ball in play: 4.46 times per game.

That's a pretty significant drop off, and I don't think it's explained by this team being full of swing and miss hackers.

Patience isn't solely defined by walks taken. I don't know what the pitches/PA is for this team, but I'd be surprised if it was the same or lower than the previous two years.
