Where does eveyone stand on smoking bans?

Please point out where I said that ANYTHING should be regulated? I asked questions, that's it.

FWIW, I began going to bars in KC at age 18 in 1984. From 1984 to 1993 (when I moved to Los Angeles), I went to bars on average 5 nights a week, maybe more. Never ONCE did I think to myself "I'm not going out tonight because it's too smokey". Nope, just went out, partied and had fun.

Los Angeles didn't enact a smoking ban in bars and restaurants until 1997 so for four years, I went out on average 4 night a week until that time. I did notice a difference in the bars because fewer people tend to smoke in LA but it never stopped me from going to bars.

Designated areas make far more sense but in most cases (due to existing building structures), it's very difficult to mandate across the board.

As I've stated before, it sucks for smokers.

FTR, I could really care less about banning smoking in bars. It's neither here or there for me. But restaurants are a different story. If my wife and I are paying $XXX for dinner, I'd appreciate it if no one had the ability to smoke around me. It makes the food less enjoyable. And while I understand that there are those who have reasonable respect for non-smokers in a restaurant, in my experience, there are more who don't.

When Arrowhead made the smokers go to the concourse it made going to games a lot nicer for those of us who are trying to avoid an early self inflicted death.

Usually, if you asked the person next to you not to smoke and they came regularly to games it was never an issue. But then you would have some buttwipe who shows up for one game and starts smoking and gets all indignant when you are asking him or her not to.

The crackdown on excessive drinking and profanity helped too to make it better. Its just some people have to punctuate every other sentence with f bombs that are a major anoyance. But you get them hauled off pretty quick if you need to.

doesn't matter they will say "my" poor eating habits which are bad for my health (and lead to all kinds of medical problems) are driving up "your" insurance premiums.....the funny part is that the tax on cigarettes pays for a lot of shit @ the state level (i.e. every child has health insurance laws) where are they going to replace that tax revenue when everyone quits smoking?

i find a resturant i like and start going there .... everything is so good that we start going once a week.

Joe Blow Smoker moves into town and starts going to the same resturant.

no it is not about the smokers it is about the business owners...they have a right to decide what type of establishment to run...I'm sure there are people that wouldn't patronize a restaurant that encourages people to cuss while they order ( and get cursed back by employees--I know its out there just can't find it right away --in either NY or Chicago) so should the non-cursers have a right to legally ban it?

it is the business owners decision ....they and they alone should decide who they cater to...I'm sure there are plenty of non-smoking restaurants out there that you may enjoy just as a smoker must choose only from those that allow smoking (unless of course the smoker can wait till afterwords or you don't mind the smell of smoke) I AM A NON-SMOKER! I just don't feel like this is fair it is one sided and irresponsible legislation
