The opposite of the QB gets girl story.
I was a routinely shitty football player. As a routinely shitty football player that also played a trumpet, I was in the band, but didn't have to actually do anything because they did marching band practice during football season and as a routinely shitty football player, I wouldn't have to actually be in marching band as I would be on the sidelines tying and re-tying my shoes during marching band performances. She was a pom-pon girl. As a tall skinny chick that played the flute, she was also in band but also didn't have to do anything during marching band practice because she would be standing on the sidelines being tall and skinny during marching band performances. So during marching band practice, we sat in the band room. I had a girlfriend at the time, so we were just friends. Oh, and she was 15, so there's that (fear not, I was only 16 at the time; but you don't date 15 year old girls when you have a car; not kosher). But the following spring we started dating. Now I'm old and can't even play softball without getting injured. But hey - being a shitty football player allowed me to out-kick my coverage. While I can't bench 400 and run a 4.40; nor did I score 6 TDs in the state championship like the rest of CP, I do get to bang a pretty hot chick on account of what can kinda be considered athletic prowess -- afterall, I didn't get thrown off the team or anything.

I met my wife in the newsroom at the Columbia Missourian. She was a lowly news side copy editor, I was a respected designer/assistant sports editor.
Because of my lofty status, I technically was a Teaching Assistant for the copy editing class. I first noticed my future wife while she was peering over some page proofs. My attention might or might not have been drawn by the peek I received at a plaid thong (depends on who's hearing the story). We eventually made plans to hang out, which I broke to watch a baseball game at a bar, but she looked past the douchebaggery and gave me a second chance, and we began dating. In completely unrelated news, she received an A in her copy editing class. I came out as the ultimate winner when she decided to go to law school (which her father very kindly paid for).

I met my wife very briefly at a friend's birthday party. She caught my attention, but we didn't get to speak much. I later asked my friend if she was available, he said he wasn't sure, but I figured I'd take a shot regardless, so the next time I saw her I asked her out. All golden from that point on.

Mine was a cashier at a drug store. I used to go in there to buy soda and asked her out.

Met my fiance at work. I had always noticed her, but began to REALLY notice her when a co-worker told her to smile for me because as he put it, "doesn't she have a beautiful smile?" I of course said yes and thus began our pursuits of each other. How did I get her number you ask? I had a picture of one of our cats sitting like a person with glasses on looking like he was reading a book so I showed it to her, and as expected she wanted it sent to her phone.
