Jermichael Finley has interest from five teams

http://nflspinzone.com/2014/03/07/je...0the%20Network

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley suffered a career-threatening neck injury last season, but he’s expected to resume his career. The question is how effective Finley will be coming back from his injury, but he is just 27 and was one of the league’s biggest mis-match makers at the tight end position prior to his injury. Therefore, it’s not surprising to hear the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin report that the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers are all interested in the uber-athletic Packers tight end.

While Finley could still stick around with the Packers, it’s interesting to see that there’s a significant list of suitors. It isn’t surprising, but it isn’t indicative at all of how much money Finley will get. He’s looking at a cheap, one-year deal to prove himself after an injury of that magnitude, and the 2015 offseason would give him his big payday if he is successful in 2014.

The Jets, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Giants could all use another tight end, and it would be interesting to see Finley on the Steelers with the solid Heath Miller in front of him (I highly doubt the Steelers go for him, though). Out of all of those teams, I think the Jets are the most likely landing spot for him, but I could see the Chiefs or Giants taking a flier on his talent.

Then the season starts and the guy gets hurt or is literally useless and then people say it was shit. But it was shit from the beginning too.

Well, Finley has performed at a high level when healthy. Way better than Fasano.

But your point is valid.

Good point. I do think the expectation in the front office is that Travis Kelce will emerge as the main receiving TE in this offense, which would be more of a long-term solution...and then you supplement with guys like this.

I'm not saying it is different. I'm just saying, why get our panties in a wad about something that hasn't happened yet.

What we do know so far is that the Chiefs are considering adding a TE, which is a good thing imo

Cheap one year deal? Why the **** not. If he doesn't show anything or gets hurt again.....we aren't out anything huge. If he proves that he's back 100% and gives Smith another reliable target....awesome.

A neck injury is the absolute worst of them all, Priest Holmes was "medically cleared" too... but it was obvious that he didn't want to commit himself to a play like he had in the past after that injury.

Cant blame players for feeling that way, but that's the last injury I would want to take a chance on if I were Dorsey... throw in a lot of rumors about him being a problem child in Green Bay and I'll pass.

Top rookie, Kelce, McGrath... nothing wrong with that, the TE position in this system is too important for Dollar General signings.

Except that we aren't going to draft a top rookie. It's probably going to be a swing tackle or multipurpose guard. Maybe a WR.

Hope we sign him to a 1 year deal. He's far better than McGrath and Fasano. Draft a TE that can take over next year.

Most of past history with both Dorsey and Reid suggests you're right, but nothing is locked in stone... maybe they move back to nab more picks in such a deep draft?

We can surely get a stud TE in the second this year, right?

Personally, if I could only choose between receiver and tight end, I'll take the end this year... Smith was averaging 30+ per game in the latter half of the year with whats already here, throw in say, a Jackson in free agency, and blammo, fixed.
