Ten Things About Today's Game

Ten Things About Today's Game

10. This weekend has been a great time to live in Kansas City. The Royals clinched their second World Series in a row Friday night with a thrilling ninth inning shutdown of Toronto. The weather here is perfect, the trees and turning colors, and as Bill Grigsby used to say "It's a Beau-ti-ful Day for football." When your team is 1-5, you don't expect much. So today was pretty stress free. Nothing really riding on today's game. Pittsburgh is in a fight for the NFC North, so this game meant much more to them. This morning I thought this would be a good time to use the Ten Things to show some of our CPers who don't live in KC, and have never been to Arrowhead, what the tailgate thing looks like. So I took my camera and snapped some pictures as the morning progressed. We'll do a little of that before talking game stuff.

Spoiler!

My pal Mr. Doggity snapped this photo right before kickoff. These are the stairs that run below my seats. It's Mike Swanson, the Royals PR guy, carrying the ALCS trophy, followed by Hosmer, Perez, Yost and Moose.

*shrug* Yeah, but at least it was there. I suppose it is less frustrating as a fan for me when they seem to pull together more.

As far as Fisher's penalty, it looked like the defender was twisting West's ankle and not letting him get up. You could see West yelling and trying to get up, and Fisher came over and wasn't happy about it. Here's a video I saw on Twitter:

They now need to carry that attitude into the next 10 games.

It was GOOD to see some anger and attitude.

Stop eating everyones shit, KC.

Yup. The fire from Fisher is something we badly needed. Teammates backing each other up. I remember in the Denver game when the defense kept teeing off on Charles with late hits. I'm fine with a 15 yard penalty and for Fisher to play nasty for a change. West did the same thing when I thought Shazier went low on Alex Smith on a slide.

Also, one correction... I think the missed out route, unless I'm mistaken, was a good pass that Wilson dropped.

Other than those 2 things, I agree with most everything else.

Any game we win with Smith is a waste and puts us further away from drafting one with a high pick. Today sucked.

Amazing how they play their best and most consistent four quarters of the season without their two best players.

Maybe they were relying on them too much, from a mental standpoint?

That may be true for Smith regarding Maclin, but when was the last time that Reid gave the ball to Charles 22 times?

Week 7 of LAST season @ SD.

Would you be surprised to know that Jamaal has never gotten MORE than 22 carries playing for Andy?

Of course you wouldn't.

You and I talked about this in the game thread. I was curious so I looked it up.

The last time Charles saw 22 carries was week 7 of 2014. In his time under Reid, he's only had 22+ carries in a game three times.

We won all three games.
