Why aren't the Chiefs selling more Season Tickets?

Have they just become to expensive? Reason I am asking is that I received this email from the Chiefs today for season tickets and I thought they had a 20-yr waiting list.

Quote:

Deposits to buy new 2006 season tickets are coming in fast! And for the first time in years, the Chiefs have season ticket inventory to sell! With your deposit, you are guaranteed 2006 season tickets, and also guaranteed playoff tickets for THIS SEASON at Arrowhead (as long as we qualify)! This window could close very soon to purchase season tickets, so we hope you take advantage soon! The following are some key benefits to purchasing Kansas City Chiefs season tickets:

* Opportunity to renew your same seats for future seasons.
* Opportunity to participate in the “Chiefs Annual Seat Relocation Program” (upgrade and/or move your seats). This takes place in March and April of 2006.
* Opportunity to purchase your same seats for home playoff games.
* Priority opportunity to purchase tickets for other Arrowhead special events.
* Opportunity to participate in the Chiefs Super Bowl ticket lottery drawing available to all season ticket holders when the Chiefs qualify.
* AND MANY MORE!

Ticket prices for the 2006 season have not been announced. They will be announced in late December, 2005. This season, season ticket prices in the upper reserved section were $590 per seat (10 game home schedule). To reserve your seats, a $100.00 deposit is due per seat. For example, if you wish to purchase 2 seats for the 2006 season, a $200.00 deposit is due. This money will be credited toward your 2006 season ticket balance. Once the deposit is processed, you will receive an account number, verbal and print verification from the Kansas City Chiefs, and a pin number to look up your account online. Your account can be paid off in (4) installments between January-June of 2006. The Kansas City Chiefs will invoice you accordingly. We will place your initial seats as close as possible to the general area you wish to sit. Please indicate the general area you wish to sit on your order form if you are faxing or mailing in your order form (i.e. Chiefs side, visitors side, corners, end zones). I have attached an order form to fill out. However, you are encouraged to call me to place your order over the phone. This will give you the opportunity to ask any unanswered questions.

Many new buyers have inquired about purchasing Upper Box, Field Box and/or Club Level seats. **These seats are rarely available for new buyers; however, there is an opportunity to purchase these seats via the VIP Tailgate. If interested in this club, please review the benefits below:

VIP Tailgate Tent (located next to Gate F at Arrowhead Stadium)

* All inclusive silver platter buffet featuring traditional and gourmet items.
* Open bar stocked with specialty drinks, beer and soda.
* Convenient private restroom facilities.
* Special entertainment including live bands, big screen televisions and appearances by the Chiefs Cheerleaders, KC Wolf (mascot) and former Kansas City Chiefs players.
* Option to purchase reserved parking.
* Give away items for every guest at each game.
* Themed each game to provide your guest with a unique experience.

$605.00 Annual Membership Fee per person (subject to change for the 2006 season) plus ticket prices

**The VIP Tailgate Tent inventory is subject to a waiting list for these premium Arrowhead Stadium seats and accessibility to this club.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support!

Sincerely,

Jon

Don't get me wrong I love game days too and I never ever have turned down an opportunity to go to the games.

Maybe I am just getting lazier in my old age.

I have gone to games so long i can remember watching Joe Namath play! i have been a season holder now for 10 years and i too am very tired of a 3 hour drive each way just to get my heart broke at the end of the season after all the hype of a great season coming. this is probably my last season as my ticket partner has already turned in his tickets for the rest of the year to me cause he is pissed after the Eagles game. We love the tailgating but we too can stay home and get drunk and only drive 3 blocks back to my house. maybe a lot of people are feeling this way and that is why the ticket sales are way off. gas at 2.75 isnt helping either, it costs 70.00 to go to one game for me in my avalanche.

i remember growing up in kc and you could buy tickets in the nose bleed part, move to lower level before 1st was over. then i grew up,moved 5 hours away and raised a family. we still try to get back to see a game or two a year. but i will now only sit in the lower section. its easy to get tickets down there. the trouble is the cost of the tickets,gas,meals and if i buy $4 water or a $7 beer it adds up. when you have 2 in hs and 1 in college paying to see a chief game is hard. so we throw parties at home during the games. at least if i get drunk i dont have to drive. NO playoff victories and the price of a ticket has really hurt the chiefs ticket sells.
