What about CBs?

Sean Smith probably gets cut. We'll have Cooper and Gaines. Fleming and Owens are UFA.
Didn't bring up receivers. Would assume we need to clean house. Maybe should have brought up corners... Cooper seems like he's coming on even though he has a ways to go. We've learned nothing really about Gaines to say he can play in the NFL. So would assume in both groups, as of now, both haven't shown that there's a whole lot of promise for 2015. Would imagine Sean Smith has to stay even though he's overpaid.

Get Bowe the **** out of here. He isn't doing well and he doesn't fit our scheme.

Sean Smith, Fasano, Daniel, DeVito, Avery and Tamba gone too, though I'd like to bring Tamba back on a lower friendly deal (fingers crossed).

All those cuts give us so much money back. Bring in some vets via free agency like year one but keep drafting well and building the team and it won't matter.

I'd rather lose DJ than Tamba.

I disagree. Tamba costs 3 times as much and he plays a position that relies on physical talent. Doubt he's worth 14 mil next year and doubt he settles for a cap friendly restructuring. Some team will overpay him in his twilight years and it shouldn't be the Chiefs. Dj is playing out a deal that's one hell of a bargain for the Chiefs. He plays a position where just the mental side could keep him playing at a high level for 5 more years and I could see his knee injury giving the Chiefs leverage to negotiate a cheap contract. If the Chiefs get dj below 5 mil and especially way below 5 mil, which I think they can, that's still a great deal even at the back end of his career.

Gotta disagree about DJ, its hard to see him recovering well enough at his age to approximate what he was... and for FIVE more years?

All emotion and romanticism for his lifelong career here aside... this is a young mans game and the next DJ is out there somewhere just dying to be a pro for a lot less money.

I think he will still be a good player. Smarts can still carry him. At ILB, I'm okay with good since at linebacker he can get away with not being dominant physically. Whereas if Hali is anything short of great at olb, get him out of there.

This is all assuming, of course, we get him on the cheap which I think we can.

I like Tamba, but if Bob Sutton's defense isn't allowing us to get a pass rush, (no matter who we have rushing the passer from the edge), then he's just not worth the money.

Get a new DC, or get rid of Tamba. I prefer the new DC option.

We not only have a buttload of draft picks, but we should also have plenty of money for some good free agents... I expect a massive influx of talent, Dorsey has GOT to nail it next year.

Bowe, Avery and Jenkins are probably all gone next season. We're going to need at least 2 WRs for a second offseason in a row.

I would think DJ and Hali are both gone also...

Next season is the perfect storm to reload this roster. Lots of Picks, lots of players that need replaced with younger players...

Should be a big ****ing year in FA and the draft next year...

I'm all for getting rid of Daniel. As long as he's there, we'll never know what we have in either Murray or Bray. I agree with your thought about the guards. I'd sure like to see Doc get a shot at starting next season. You are correct about the C position as well.
I'd love to keep DJ if he's able to come back. I think he's a valuable leader on the D and even at 75%, better than any other option we have. The question is going to be at OLB. Houston hasn't shown me that he's worth what he wants and he's likely to shop anyway. Dee Ford may never be ready. Bring Tamba back on a team-friendly deal. I think he wants to finish out in KC.
Jenkins and Avery can go tomorrow. Hemingway is valuable on STs, but I'm not sure what he'd cost. The only reason Bowe hasn't been sent down the road is we have no one else to take his place. Same with S. Smith.
