Hold on to your butts....

So...changes are a comin.

It's no secret that the current set of mods haven't been around as much as would probably be ideal lately. There's no blame here whatsoever - life is more important than ChiefsPlanet - but it's probably time for a bit of a refresh.

Based on some extensive behind-the-scenes discussions, I am pleased to present what I hope will be a solid arrangement for the leadership team moving forward.

AustinChief will, as always, be the final authority on anything involving the forum, but I will be (more officially) re-joining the leadership team as a formal admin. I'll still largely leave the everyday mod decisions to others, but I'll be more involved in high-level strategic discussions among the mods when trying to figure out how to handle overall forum direction. In addition, Bearcat will be moving to a similar role; he can't be around as much as he used to, but his technical skills are still valuable from time to time, and it's always nice to have some long-term history to help figure out the tough decisions.

As for the mods, I'd like to present candidates for your new mod team:
Bwana
Bowser
Dartgod
JASONSAUTO
TimBone

I know we've done a more general call for nominations in the past, but this time we're treating this more like a supreme court nominations process. We definitely want to make sure we have your (the forum's) approval on these in case we screwed up, but generally we feel like this is a solid group of guys who represent a variety of viewpoints, and we're really just looking to make sure there aren't any red flags here. Because of that, please give your approval or disapproval for each of these guys in the poll above. If we find that someone gets a lot of disapproval, we'll dig in a bit to make sure that that person is truly a good fit.

As for the "old mods," I want to make it clear that this IS NOT any sort of punishment. Sometimes, life changes, and devoting time to screwing around on a ****ing message board isn't your highest priority, and that's just fine. Those guys will be "retiring" to a newly-formed advisory committee to help generate ideas and address issues in the future. Hopefully that committee will help to make sure that any major issues affecting the forum can be addressed sooner than later. In other words, their opinions will still be vital to helping guide forum direction, but they just won't need to log in every day to see what people are bitching about.

Finally, as a preview for the future, the new mods and advisory committee will be working on some ideas to more broadly make ChiefsPlanet a great place to hang out. I almost hesitate to mention anything since nothing is set in stone, but in hopes of giving you all an idea of the improvements that MAY (heavy emphasis) happen in the near future, the following ideas are under serious consideration:
  • Creating a "mod actions" thread so that there is more transparency about what the mods do and why.
  • Adding new capabilities to try and control problem users in ways that are short of banning (potentially including bringing back the "Romper Room" where users can let their freak flags fly, limiting insane users to a certain number of posts per day, and things like that).

Those ideas will be discussed in more detail soon, but I hope it helps to understand that there is a commitment to finding solutions to some of CP's tougher issues moving forward.

So with that, let us know what you think about the new team in the poll, and feel free to ask questions in this thread. All of us just want this to be a great place to waste more time on the internet than is healthy, and this is the first step toward some improvements I think could make a huge difference.

Love and kisses,

DaFace

TL;DR - OMG HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE NEW MODS! VOTE ON THEM TO MAKE SURE NONE OF THEM ARE IDIOTS WHO WILL RUIN EVERYTHING!!!

Short answer: no. There's no built-in stat for that, so it has to be pulled directly from the database.

And you can't touch that. You might blow the place up.

I have no idea why the switch other than times changes. BTA I don't pay attention to the petty stuff on here either. Some people are just here to whine and cry about shit that doesn't suit their agenda.

Bottom line is, the older I get, the less I get involved with crap that doesn't concerns me.

So personally I could care less, my theory is still the same, I don't give a shit.

FTR, the kids are taking over the world. In real life and on here, as I said, it's the way of the world now a day.

I now know what my grand parents went though as well as my parents. It's happening in real life to me each day I get older, so CP is no different.
