USC is a still a bowl team. They have a lot of flaws, mainly due to the fact that they've been hammered by NCAA penalties. It's actually a miracle they've played as well as they've played during this time.

Well, that's unfair. They've lost 45 scholarships over the past three years, yet the team hasn't fallen off the map.

If you imposed those sanctions to LSU or Alabama or Florida, they'd suffer as well.

I'm not a USC fan per se but they will be back.

I get the reasons for why they are mediocre in 2012 and I get that they'll likely be back near the top eventually. But none of it changes what they are right now (and that's a USC team that isn't anywhere near as impressive as we've become accustomed to seeing come of the PAC).

I think we have a difference definition of mediocre. Top 25 isn't mediocre, IMO. USC has pulled through these sanctions about as well any former national power could have expected although I think their reign over the PAC 12 is over for quite a while.

Watch Cam's year at Auburn. Then watch Bama's offense this year. You're really going to argue that this Alabama team is better offensively than Auburn's team with Cam? You honestly think AJ McCrybaby is leading this Bama offense back from a 3 score deficit in Bama against a team that had Hightower, Barron, Upshaw, Cody, Menzie, Kirkpatrick and several other defensive players coming off of a national championship?

Not at all. I was trying to point out that calling any team mediocre based on one game is stupid. If Miles doesn't give that game away tonight, Alabama would have lost to the only legitimate team they have played all season. Fans can talk in circles about college football. Past games have no bearing on the outcomes of future games just like past seasons have no bearing on future seasons.

IMO the SEC is a little overrated this season, but the games will prove whether I'm wrong or right.
